SPENCER MATTHEWS PUSHES HIMSELF TO THE LIMIT AND REUNITES WITH DISNEY+ FOR FEATURE-LENGTH DOCUMENTARY "BREAKING SPENCER MATTHEWS (w/t)"

A Hulu Original documentary film to follow Spencer Matthews as he takes on his greatest challenge yet - seven full distance 140-mile triathlons across all seven continents in just 21 days

LONDON, UK (25th August 2026): Disney+ has today announced a new Hulu Original feature-length documentary film commissioned out of the UK to follow Spencer Matthews as he embarks on a seemingly impossible expedition: completing seven full distance triathlons across seven continents in just three weeks.

The feature-length documentary, "Breaking Spencer Matthews (w/t)," is produced by BAFTA-winning and multi-Emmy Award-nominated Whisper ("Sven," "Ben Stokes: Phoenix from the Ashes") and comes three years after Matthews' first acclaimed Disney+ film "Finding Michael." "Finding Michael" captivated Disney+ audiences, sharing an unexpected side to Spencer and drawing them into his story in a way that resonated with viewers. "Breaking Spencer Matthews (w/t)" will continue to surprise viewers, putting Spencer at the centre of another dramatic and compelling scenario.

Beyond the extraordinary physical feat, the film is an intimate exploration of men's mental health, confronting themes of identity, addiction, and grief. A lingering reputation forged during his years on a hit reality show, Spencer confronts the man he used to be, examines his destructive relationship with alcohol, and continues to process the devastating loss of his brother, who died on an Everest expedition.

The film is exhilarating, hilarious, and terrifying in equal measure, culminating in the ultimate test... the seventh full distance triathlon in Antarctica, where simply entering the freezing waters may prove to be the greatest challenge of all. As well as the thrills and high-stakes action, the documentary also provides plenty of laughs, featuring the hilarious side of Spencer that audiences know and love. His trademark humour and magnetic personality bring fun and infectious energy to the story.

With his close friend and guide, Chris Taylor, by his side Spencer embarks on an adventure that pushes them to physical and psychological limits. Together, they face a challenge that will quite literally bring them to breaking point.

Spencer Matthews says: "This challenge has become about far more than completing seven Ironman's across all seven continents. What began as an extreme physical pursuit has evolved into a journey of self-discovery and transformation that has tested me in ways I could never have anticipated. There were moments of exhaustion, doubt, and struggle where I had to dig deeper than ever before, treading a fine line between one of the greatest adventures imaginable and life-threatening danger.

I'm proud to share that journey with audiences through Disney+ and Whisper. After 'Finding Michael,' it means a great deal to continue working with Disney+ and to explore another deeply personal chapter of my life. I hope this film inspires people to question their own limits and to see that what feels impossible, physically, emotionally, or personally can often be the very thing that transforms us."

"Breaking Spencer Matthews (w/t)" was commissioned by Angela Jain, Head of Content, Disney+ EMEA, and Sean Doyle, VP, Unscripted, Disney+ EMEA. It will be directed by Whisper's Chris Grubb ("Sven," "Ben Stokes: Phoenix from the Ashes") and produced by Drew Masters ("14 Peaks: Nothing is Impossible," "Sven"), Daniel Tait ("Built in Birmingham: Brady & the Blues") and Tom Beard ("Finding Michael").

"Breaking Spencer Matthews (w/t)" is the latest UK Original unscripted commission for Disney+, joining the return of Britain's original and much-loved dating series "Blind Date," a highly anticipated feature-length documentary on multi-award-winning Welsh singer-songwriter Duffy, and acclaimed documentaries like "Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth" and "Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story".

Disney+ is available from £5.99 per month - with no hidden costs and the ability to cancel anytime. There's something for everyone to watch, with a lifetime of great stories and a constantly growing library of blockbuster movies, brand new originals and exclusive hit shows, alongside live sports throughout the year. From Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, Hulu, FX and ESPN, Disney+ spans everything from documentaries to critically acclaimed drama, comedy to classic animation, and general entertainment. Customers can enjoy titles from the second season of International Emmy(R) and BAFTA(R) Award winning series, "Rivals", the award-winning comedy series "Only Murders in the Building", Walt Disney Animation Studios' box office smash "Zootropolis 2" and 20th Century Studios' "Send Help".
