ANNE RICE'S TALAMASCA: THE SECRET ORDER (AMC) - Executive producer Mark Lafferty has signed an overall deal with AMC Studios where he'll develop new series projects via his newly launched Steady State Productions. (Deadline.com, 8/26)
AQUAMARINE (Disney) - Kenzi Richardson, Jake McDorman, Briella Guiza, Theodore Dalton, and Annika Reese are set to star in the film-turned-TV series pilot. Richardson will play Coral, "a thoughtful and artistic teenager who discovers she is half mermaid and must navigate adolescence, identity and the absence of the mother she never knew." McDorman, will also serve as an executive producer, will reprise his film role of Raymond, "now the devoted single dad to his daughter with Aquamarine." Guiza then is Coral's friend Mia, an "edgy, funny and fiercely authentic best friend, whose intelligence, creativity and outsider confidence challenge Coral's desire to fit in"; with Dalton as August, "a soulful and likable surfer whose easy charm and emotional depth draw Coral in, even as their connection is complicated by the beach club's social dynamics"; and Reese as Paige, the "sharp and stylish queen bee of the beach club." BIG BREAK (Golf Channel) - The network has nixed the reboot series, originally set to debut past week, following the exit of Good Good as the season's title sponsor. (GolfChannel.com, 8/27)
'BURBS, THE (Peacock) - Elizabeth Hurley will recur on the new season as Beverly Fisher, "the mother of Jack Whitehall's Rob Fisher." (Deadline.com, 8/27)
CROUCH END (Amazon, New!) - The streamer has commissioned a six-part limited series based on Stephen King's short story of the same name: "London never sleeps deeply, and its dreams are uneasy. When global movie star Doris Freeman bursts into a London police station claiming that strange phenomena are behind the disappearance of her husband, police inspector Ted Vetter must investigate whether she's telling the truth, whether she could be a murderer, or whether there's something even more chilling at play." Writer Paul Tomalin and director Tom Shankland are behind the project with Damien Timmer, Rebecca Keane, and Ben Irving also executive producing for Mammoth Screen and Fifth Season. DISAVOWED (Apple TV) - Michelle MacLaren will direct the first two episodes of the James Marsden-led series. She'll also executive produce alongside Rebecca Hobbs via her overall deal with the streamer. (Deadline.com, 8/28)
DOC (FOX) - Barrett Carnahan, Raffa Virago, Cecilia Lee, and Kolton Stewart will recur on the show's upcoming season. Carnahan will play Graham Barker, "who is entitled, smooth, charming, and driven to prove that he's more than just the nepo baby of one of the hospital's wealthy donors"; with Virago as Nikki De Silva, "who is described as wound tight: an overachiever, sharp, and quick-witted"; Lee as Ruth Chen, "who is empathetic, eager, and kind; she cheers the other interns on"; and Stewart as Kyle Ferguson, "the youngest of the interns. He is brilliant and humble - a fish out of water because he was homeschooled." (Deadline.com, 8/25)
ELIZABETH BANKS COMEDY SERIES (Apple TV) - Tom Selleck will guest on the upcoming comedy series in a yet-to-be-revealed role. (Deadline.com, 8/24)
ENIGMA VARIATIONS (Netflix) - Peter Hermann, Juliana Canfield, and Francesca Cavallin have scored roles in the André Aciman adaptation. Hermann will play Isaac; with Canfield as Luciana; and Cavallin in an unspecified role. (Deadline.com, 8/26)
ENVOY, THE (HBO Max) - Alexi Hawley's proposed drama, originally set up at Hulu, is now in development at HBO Max. (Deadline.com, 8/25)
HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE (HBO) - Kit Harington is bound for the show's second season as Gilderoy Lockhart. He replaces Nicholas Hoult, "who was originally cast in the role but left over scheduling issues." Harington previously voiced the character in the "Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions." HILARY (Peacock, New!) - Coco Jones's Hilary Banks is being eyed to lead a "Bel-Air" spin-off series at the streamer: "In the proposed spinoff, after accepting an unexpected job offer from celebrity chef Yvonne Durand, Hilary Banks (Jones) impulsively moves to New York determined to prove herself beyond her Bel-Air connections - only to find that success, friendship and love in the city come with a cost she never anticipated." Tracy Oliver is spearheading the project for Westbrook Studios and Universal Television with Jones, Oliver, Will Smith, Terence Carter, David Boorstein, Miguel Melendez, Benny Medina, Andy Borowitz, Susan Borowitz, and Morgan Cooper executive producing. I LOVE LA (HBO) - Katy O'Brian, Lindsay Sloane, Michael Rispoli, Nelson Franklin, and Rajat Suresh will guest in yet-to-be-revealed roles on the show's second season. (Variety.com, 8/27)
LAW & ORDER: SVU (NBC) - J. Smith-Cameron will recur on the upcoming season as "jury consultant Gwen Sharpe opposite Mariska Hargitay's Olivia Benson." (Deadline.com, 8/27)
LINE OF FIRE (NBC) - The freshman drama has cast Sam Waterston as former President Thomas Barnes; Campbell Scott as Terry, "a U.S. Senator who is Jane's boyfriend"; and Chris Chalk as current President Kayana, "who's strong and decisive but worries his numbers are not where they should be and is seeking to course correct." NEWLYWEDS (NBC) - Al Madrigal will recur on the freshman comedy at Dan, "James' (Tim Daly) divorced best friend whose plans for single life are derailed by James and Jeanie's (Téa Leoni) impulsive wedding. As the matchmaker behind the couple, he also earns the ire of James' ex, Claudia (Jamie Lee Curtis)." (Deadline.com, 8/28)
NOT A SOUND (Hulu, New!) - Ellen Pompeo is attached to star in a new drama at the streamer based on Heather Gudenkauf's novel of the same name: "In it, after losing her hearing in a devastating hit-and-run, disgraced ER nurse Amelia Winn (Pompeo) and her fiercely loyal service dog discover the murdered body of a former colleague - pulling Amelia into a deadly mystery that could finally reveal the truth about the accident that changed her life." Writers Matthew Tinker and Annakate Chappell and director Azazel Jacobs are behind the project with Pompeo, David E. Kelley, and Laura Holstein also executive producing for David E. Kelley Productions, Calamity Jane, and 20th Television. (Deadline.com, 8/27)

ROOKIE, THE/ROOKIE, THE: NORTH (ABC) - Franchise creator Alexi Hawley has signed a multi-year overall deal with producer Lionsgate Television. (Deadline.com, 8/25)
ROOSTER (HBO) - Maximo Salas's Tommy, Annie Mumolo's Cristle, and Rory Scovel's Donnie Mullins will all return as regulars for the show's second season. (Deadline.com, 8/24)
SCOOBY-DOO: ORIGINS (Netflix) - Cathy Moriarty will recur on the live-action series in a yet-to-be-revealed role. (Deadline.com, 8/27)
SHERIFF COUNTRY (CBS) - Ben McKenzie will drop by his real-life wife Morena Baccarin on the show's season premiere as Sheriff Wade, "a neighboring sheriff who is called in to assist Baccarin's Sheriff Mickey Fox, and has a few secrets of his own." (Deadline.com, 8/24)
TRIAL OF LOUISE WOODWARD, THE (HBO) - Catriona Chandler and Joanne Froggatt have both been cast in the limited series. Chandler is set in the title role, "an 18-year-old British au pair was accused of shaking to death a baby left in her care by her American host family, setting off an international media firestorm as the trial unfolds in full view of both the British and American public." Froggatt will play Louise's mother, Susan. (Deadline.com, 8/24)
UNDERTAKER, THE (ABC, New!) - Writer Gabriel Garza and director Hanelle M. Culpepper are set to team for a domestic take on the Swiss series "Der Bestatter" at the Alphabet: "The Undertaker will follow Luke Conrad, a former police detective who takes over his family's funeral home business and can't resist investigating the deaths that come through the door." Alex Cole, Joe Wiggins, and Michael Wenning will also executive produce for Elevate Entertainment, One Gate Media, and 20th Television. (Deadline.com, 8/28)
UNTITLED MALE FRIENDSHIP SHOW (HBO, New!) - Issa Rae has sold a new comedy pilot to the network: "Written and exec produced by Rae, the pilot centers on Menzel, a 30-year-old barber, aspiring sports manager, and professional best friend to JB, an up-and-coming boxer, as they navigate ambition, insecurity, loneliness, and the double-edged sword of success within the high-stakes world of professional boxing in Las Vegas." Director Prentice Penny will also executive produce, as will Jax Clark, Jonathan Berry, and Dave Becky for Hoorae, A Penny For Your Thoughts, and 3 Arts Entertainment. (Deadline.com, 8/25)
