The New Six-Episode Podcast Series Launches Sept. 16

Mindi Kassotis' friends were told she suddenly died in a hospital. Months later, they were told her husband, Nick, died too. They grieved. That is, until a woman's dismembered body was found scattered in a swamp outside of Savannah, Ga., and police sketches resembled Mindi. But how could Mindi die not once, but twice?
What happened to Mindi Kassotis is the mystery at the center of THE WOMAN IN THE WOODS, an all-new podcast hosted by award-winning 48 HOURS correspondent Erin Moriarty, launching Wednesday, Sept. 16, on all podcast platforms.
Over six episodes, Moriarty explores the layered and twisted case of Nick and Mindi Kassotis. Friends and family were told the couple was being hunted because Nick's previous classified military work put them in danger. Mindi was rarely seen out by friends. Friends and family were told she suddenly died in a hospital. Then Nick was reported dead. The story of what happened changed dramatically when a body was found in the woods.
THE WOMAN IN THE WOODS features Moriarty reporting on how Mindi Kassotis appeared to die twice.
This is the first time a 48 HOURS narrative podcast miniseries has mixed audio and video in the storytelling. THE WOMAN IN THE WOODS blends audio with video, adding additional never-before-seen video content, photography and other visual elements to enhance the experience. Previous miniseries were audio only.
