Sci Fi Expands Friday Lineup with 'Heroes,' 'Threshold'
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Sci Fi is expanding its signature Friday lineup with repeats of NBC's newcomer "Heroes" and CBS's short-lived drama "Threshold" while October will see the return of "Ghost Hunters" and the launch of a new weekly newsmagazine "Sci Fi Investigates."

Said moves, along with several other developments, were confirmed today with the release of the network's schedule for October.

"Heroes," which bows Monday, September 25 at 10:00/9:00c on the Peacock, will encore each Friday on Sci Fi at 7:00/6:00c starting September 29 while "Threshold" will take over the Friday, 10:00/9:00c hour starting October 13. The pair join new seasons of "Doctor Who" and "Battlestar Galactica" as well as repeats of ABC's "Night Stalker" revival.

To review, here's a breakdown of Sci Fi's Friday lineup for the fall:

6:00/5:00c - "Night Stalker" (as of September 29)
7:00/6:00c - "Heroes" (as of September 29)
8:00/7:00c - "Doctor Who" (as of September 29)
9:00/8:00c - "Battlestar Galactica" (as of October 6)
10:00/9:00c - "Threshold" (as of October 13)

The delayed starts for "Galactica" and "Threshold" are due to the expanded season premieres of both "Doctor Who" and "Galactica" itself.

Meanwhile, "Ghost Hunters" will kick off its third season on Wednesday, October 11 at 9:00/8:00c. "Hunters" will lead into "Sci Fi Investigates" at 10:00/9:00c, a six-week series hosted by "Survivor" and "Amazing Race" alum Rob Mariano and produced by NBC News Productions. Among the subjects covered: "Bigfoot," "Mothman," "Paranormal Hotspots," "Roswell Revisited," "The Afterlife" and "Voodoo."

In addition, "Ghost Hunters" will air what's being billed as a "Live Halloween Event" on Tuesday, October 31 at 11:00/10:00c.

And if that wasn't enough, "Eureka" will close its inaugural run on Tuesday, October 3 with a marathon starting at 9:00 a.m. eastern leading up to its season finale that night at 9:00/8:00c.

Finally, as is the case each month, two new original movies will premiere - "Haunted Prison" bows on Saturday, October 14 at 9:00/8:00c while "Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes" premieres on Saturday, October 28 at 9:00/8:00c.
