'America's Got Talent' Is #1 for the Week in Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers

'AMERICA'S GOT TALENT' IS #1 FOR THE WEEK IN ADULTS 18-49 AND TOTAL VIEWERS

BURBANK, Calif. � July 5, 2006 � In its second week on the air, NBC's "America's Got Talent" was the #1 program of the week in adults 18-49 and total viewers. NBC averaged a 1.9 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49 and 5.8 million viewers overall for the week of June 26-July 2, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

"America's Got Talent" ranked #1 this week (out of a total 112 programs) in adults 18-49 (3.8/11) and overall total viewers (11.0 million), as well as in adults 25-54 (4.3/12). NBC's "Last Comic Standing" also placed in the week's top 10 in key demos, ranking #6 in adults 18-49, #5 in adults 25-54 (tied) and #4 in adults 18-34.

Primetime averages for the week of June 26-July 2 in adults 18-49 were Fox (2.4/8), CBS (2.0/7), NBC (1.9/6), ABC (1.5/5), Univision (1.4/5), UPN (0.8/2), WB (0.7/2) and Telemundo (0.3/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (7.4 million), Fox (6.2 million), NBC (5.8 million), ABC (4.3 million), Univision (3.1 million), UPN (2.1 million), WB (1.8 million) and Telemundo (0.8 million).

Since the end of the traditional broadcast season, NBC is running #2 in adults 18-49, with a 2.2 rating versus Fox's 2.5, CBS' 2.1 and ABC's 2.0 (May 25-July 2, 2006).

The top-rated original summer series introduced so far are NBC's "America's Got Talent" (a 4.4 in 18-49), Fox's Thursday and Wednesday editions of "So You Think You Can Dance" (both averaging a 3.9 in 18-49) and NBC's "Last Comic Standing" (a 3.8 in 18-49).

NBC highlights for the week of June 26-July 2:

* On Wednesday, the second episode of "America's Got Talent" was the #1 show of the week in 18-49, 25-54 and total viewers. "Talent" improved by 52 percent versus NBC's adult 18-49 average in this Wednesday time period last summer and by 19 percent versus the network's regular 2005-06 season slot average.

* On Tuesday, "Last Comic Standing" was up 74 percent in adults 18-49 versus NBC's average in the time period last summer. "Last Comic" was #1 in its hour in adults 18-34 and all key adult male demographics and ranked #2 in adults 18-49. For the week, "Last Comic Standing" ranked in the top 10 in all key demos, including adults 18-49 (#6), adults 25-54 (#5, tied) and adults 18-34 (#4).

* Through five weeks, "Last Comic Standing" is up 95 percent compared to NBC's average in the time period last summer and is the #4-ranked summer series.

* On Friday, "Dateline NBC" won its hour among adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures, up 33 percent in 18-49 versus its rating in the slot on the same night last year, while on Saturday, "Dateline" delivered NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period in seven weeks and was the #1 non-sports telecast in the slot in 18-49 and other key measures.

Excluding sports, 18-49 averages for the 2005-06 broadcast year to date are Fox (a 3.8 rating), CBS (3.5), ABC (3.4), NBC (3.0), UPN (1.2) and WB (1.2). This summer, non-sports 18-49 averages are: Fox (a 2.4 rating), NBC (2.3), CBS (2.1), ABC (1.7), UPN (0.7) and WB (0.7).

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of live only results through Dec. 25 and "live plus seven day" data since then, except for the two most recent weeks, which are live plus same day.

Additional NBC highlights for the week of June 26-July 2:

On Monday, June 26 at 9 p.m. ET, an original episode of "Treasure Hunters" (2.5 rating, 7 share in adults 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall) was up 19 percent versus NBC's 18-49 average last summer in this time period (2.5 vs. 2.1). "Treasure Hunters" built by 56 percent in adult 18-49 rating versus its lead-in � a 1.6/5 in 18-49 and 4.1 million viewers overall for an encore "Treasure Hunters" from 8-9 p.m. ET. "Treasure Hunters" ranked #15 (tied) out of 112 total programs this week in the key demographic of adults 18-49.

On Tuesday, June 27 at 8 p.m. ET, "Fear Factor" (2.4/8 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall) was up 20 percent in 18-49 rating versus NBC's average in this time period last summer (2.4 vs. 2.0) and ranked #2 in adults 18-49 and virtually all key measures.

Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET, "Last Comic Standing" (3.3/10 in 18-49, 7.1 million viewers overall) ranked #2 for the time period in adults 18-49 and #1 in adults, men and women 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54. "Last Comic," which built on its lead-in by 38 percent in 18-49, beat every NBC 18-49 result in this time period last summer. Versus NBC's average in the slot last summer, "Last Comic" was up 74 percent in 18-49 (3.3 vs. 1.9).

Also on Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2.4/7 in 18-49, 7.1 million viewers overall) ranked #1 (tied) in adults 18-49 and was #1 outright among adults, men and women 18-34.

On Wednesday, June 28 at 9 p.m. ET, the second episode of "America's Got Talent" (3.8/11 in adults 18-49, 11.0 million viewers overall) was the top-rated show on television for the night in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 (4.3/12), total viewers and numerous key measures.

"America's Got Talent" was up 52 percent in 18-49 rating compared to NBC's average in the time period last summer (3.8 vs. 2.5) and up 19 percent versus NBC's average in the time period during the recently concluded 2005-06 regular season (3.8 vs. 3.2).

"America's Got Talent" surged by 90 percent in 18-49 rating versus its lead-in � a 2.0/7 in 18-49 and 6.7 million viewers overall for an 8-9 p.m. ET encore telecast of last week's "Talent" premiere. In the nine o'clock hour, "America's Got Talent" increased in 18-49 rating by 17 percent from its first half-hour to its second (to a 4.1/12 from a 3.5/11) to take the time period lead in adults 18-49 from 9:30-10 p.m. from the final half-hour of Fox's two-hour "So You Think You Can Dance" (a 3.8/11 in 18-49 from 9:30-10 p.m.).

Also on Wednesday, an encore "Law & Order" averaged a 2.4/7 in adults 18-49 and 8.4 million viewers overall.

On Thursday, June 29 at 8 p.m. ET, an encore "My Name is Earl" (1.7/7 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in adults 18-49. At 8:30 p.m., an encore of "The Office" averaged a 1.4/5 in 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers overall. At 9 p.m., a second rebroadcast of "The Office" (1.8/6 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in by 29 percent in 18-49. And at 9:30 p.m., a second encore of "My Name is Earl" averaged a 2.0/6 in 18-49 and 4.7 million viewers overall.

Thursday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Windfall" (2.0/6 in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall) ranked #1 among women 18-34.

On Friday, June 30 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.6/7 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall) won the hour in adults 18-49, 25-54, total viewers and other key measures. "Dateline" was up 33 percent in 18-49 rating versus its performance in this slot on the same night last year.

On Saturday, July 1 at 8 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.2/5 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall) reported the network's top 18-49 rating in the time period in seven weeks (since May 13) and was the #1 non-sports telecast in the hour in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key categories. In head-to-head competition between network newsmagazines, "Dateline" outperformed CBS' "48 Hours" by 71 percent in adults 18-49 (1.2 vs. 0.7) and by 44 percent in adults 25-54 (1.3 vs. 0.9). From 9-11 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of the 2001 movie "Bridget Jones's Diary" (1.3/5 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall) was the #1 non-sports telecast in the two-hour time period in adults 18-34 and all key adult-female demos.

On Sunday, July 2 from 7:30-9 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.5/6 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49 and #1 in adults 25-54. At 9 p.m., an encore "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 7.2 million viewers overall) was #1 among total viewers. At 10 p.m., a rebroadcast of "Crossing Jordan" averaged a 1.5/5 in 18-49 and 6.4 million viewers overall.
