ABCs Debut Airing of Day Break Defeats NBCs Season Premiere of Medium

Wednesday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)

ABC won its 7th consecutive Wednesday among Adults 18-49 (4.8/12), also leading the evening for the second week in a row among Total Viewers (16.1 million).

ABCs third season finale of Dancing with the Stars stood as the No. 1 TV program on Wednesday across the board, including Total Viewers (27.2 million), Adults 25-54 (8.9/21), Adults 18-49 (7.0/18), Adults 18-34 (4.7/14), Teens 12-17 (3.0/10) and Kids 2-11 (3.9/13).

Dancing with the Stars the Results Show (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

With an average audience of 27.2 million viewers and a 7.0 rating, 18 share among Adults 18-49, ABCs Dancing with the Stars the Results Show took first place during Wednesday's 8 o'clock hour for the 10th week in a row. From 8:00-9:00 p.m., the ABC dance finale overshadowed second-place CBS' Jericho by 17.8 million viewers (27.2 million vs. 9.4 million) and by 133% in Adults 18-49 (7.0/18 vs. 3.0/8). In fact DWTS outdrew the combined audiences of CBS, NBC and Fox in the hour by 3.6 million viewers (27.2 million vs. 23.6 million). NFL champion Emmitt Smith won the ABC dance competition.

ABCs Dancing attracted the series largest-ever audience, matching its second season finale on 2/26/06. Please Note: Since the program ran past the 8 oclock hour, its viewer count will likely increase slightly once the Nielsen releases the final national ratings this afternoon.

With Tuesdays penultimate episode (26.8 million) and Wednesdays season finale of DWTS (27.2 million), ABC now lays claim to the Top 2 most-watched telecasts on TV this season.

ABCs Dancing achieved season highs in the time period in viewers and young adults, delivering the Nets largest audience in the time period with series programming since May 2000 and its top Adult 18-49 number in nearly 1-1/2 years since 5/3/00 and 5/25/05, respectively.

Day Break (9:00-11:00 p.m.)

The debut telecast of ABCs Day Break took second place in its 2-hour time period, beating out NBCs season premiere of Medium in Total Viewers (10.5 million vs. 9.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.7/10 vs. 3.5/9).

After some of the audience from its enormous DWTS lead-in filtered out during the first half-hour, Day Break delivered a solid 9 share among Adults 18-49 in each half-hour from 9:30-11:00 p.m.
