Quick Take for Monday, September 24, 2007 (Based on Fast Affiliate Ratings)

With the Season Premieres of "Dancing with the Stars" and "The Bachelor," ABC Wins the First Monday of the TV Season in Viewers and Young Adults

ABC is Up Sharply from the Opening Monday of Last Season, the Only Net to Grow

Monday's Most-Watched TV Show, ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" Leads its 90-Minute Time Period Among Total Viewers and Adults 18-49

"DWTS" Grows From its Year-Ago Season Opener in Viewers and Young Adults

Jumping from its Year-Ago Fall Premiere by 2.0 Million Viewers and by 13% in Adults 18-49, "The Bachelor" Tops its Slot with its Core Audience of Women 18-34

Monday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)

With the season premieres of "Dancing with the Stars" and "The Bachelor" on the night, ABC ranked as the No. 1 TV network on the opening Monday of the 2007-08 TV Season in Total Viewers (15.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (4.7/12).

ABC was up from opening Monday of last season by 8.4 million viewers and by 47% in Adults 18-49 (7.0 million & 3.2/8 on 9/18/07). ABC was the only network to grow its delivery year to year on either measure.

"Dancing with the Stars" (8:00-9:30 p.m.)

The most-watched TV show on Monday night, ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" ranked No. 1 in its 90-minute time period in both Total Viewers (21.2 million) and Adults 18-49 (5.8/15).

Despite stiff premiere week competition and a doubling of DVR penetration year to year (8.54% to 19.43%), "DWTS" was up from its year-ago season premiere last September (9/12/06) in both Total Viewers (21.2 million vs. 20.2 million) and Adults 18-49 (5.8/15 vs. 5.7/15).

"Dancing with the Stars" generated ABC's top viewer and young adult numbers in the time period in 6 months since 3/19/07.

"The Bachelor" (9:30-11:00 p.m.)

Growing from its year ago fall premiere by 2.0 million viewers and by 13% in Adults 18-49 (7.6 million & 3.1/8 on 10/2/06), ABC's season opener of "The Bachelor" drew an average audience of 9.6 million viewers and a 3.5 rating, 9 share in Adults 18-49. "The Bachelor" ranked No. 1 in its 90-minute time period among its core audience of Women 18-34 (4.6/11), while taking a solid second with Women 18-49 (5.3/12) and Women 25-54 (6.0/13).

Please Note: Year to year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has more than doubled from 8.54% during premiere week 2006 up to 19.43% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. Therefore, the only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
