Quick Take for Tuesday, April 15, 2008 (Fast Affiliate Live + Same Day Ratings)

Jumping from its Lead-in, ABC's "DWTS Results" is the Top Draw in the 9pm Hour, Outdelivering Fox's "Idol"-Boosted "Hell's Kitchen" and NBC's "Biggest Loser" Finale

For the Fourth Week in a Row, "DWTS" is Tuesday's No. 2 Show to "Idol" in Viewers

Opposite the Return of NBC's "Law & Order: SVU" to Original, "Boston Legal" Earns Second Place in the 10pm Hour, Beating CBS' "48 Hours Mystery" By Wide Margins

"Dancing with the Stars Results" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

Surging from its lead-in ("According to Jim" = 3.7 million and 1.3/3) by 11.3 million viewers and by 162% in Adults 18-49, ABC's "Dancing with the Stars Results" (15.0 million and 3.4/8) qualified as the most-watched show in its 9 o'clock time period. Despite decided lead-in advantages for Fox and NBC coming into the time hour, ABC's "DWTS Results" outdrew Fox's "Idol"-boosted "Hell's Kitchen" by 3.9 million viewers (11.1 million) and the second hour of NBC's 2-hour season finale for "Biggest Loser" by 2.0 million (13.0 million). Actress, producer and entrepreneur Priscilla Presley was the fifth celebrity dancer to be eliminated from the contest this season.

For the fourth week in a row the ABC dance competition stood as Tuesday's No. 2 TV show, trailing only Fox's "American Idol."

"Boston Legal" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

Opposite the return of NBC's "Law & Order: SVU" to original in the time period, ABC's "Boston Legal" took second place in the 10 o'clock hour, defeating CBS' "48 Hours Mystery" by 4.2 million viewers (9.3 million vs. 5.1 million) and by 47% in Adults 18-49 (2.2/6 vs. 1.5/4).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped from over 15% at the same point in 2006, up to nearly 24% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
