CONTINUED POPULARITY FOR 21st ANNUAL SHARK WEEK AS 29 MILLION TUNE IN
(Silver Spring, Md.) � Currently in its 21st year, Discovery Channel's SHARK WEEK was watched by 29.1 million viewers, compared with last year's 27.2 million. Airing July 27 to August 2, SHARK WEEK featured six premiere shark programs -- including two that have earned a place on the list of the top 10 rated SHARK WEEK programs (reported since 1996, based on P2+ Delivery): the MYTHBUSTERS: SHARK SPECIAL and DIRTY JOBS: GREENLAND SHARK QUEST. Online SHARK WEEK content experienced substantial gains, with more than 11.5 million page views and one million total visits from July 1 to August 2, an increase of 20% over totals from the same time period last year. From July 27 to August 2, SHARK WEEK content drew a record breaking 7.5 million weekly page views and more than 600,000 total visits, outpacing totals from SHARK WEEK 2007.
