ABC Surges Against Olympics on Friday - #1 Non-Sports Net

Jumping week-to-week against the Winter Olympics by 1.8 million viewers (4.9 million vs. 3.1 million) and by 50% in Adults 18-49 (1.5/5 vs. 1.0/3), ABC took second place on Friday night on both Nielsen measures. Among Adults 18-49, ABC beat its non-sports Friday competition on CBS and Fox by 36% each (1.5/5 vs. 1.1/4 CBS and Fox tied).

Despite facing Olympic competition, ABC posted a 6-week-high on Friday night with Adults 18-34.

From 8-10pm, a rebroadcast airing of the theatrical Meet the Fockers made ABC the #1 non-sports network in Total Viewers (5.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.6/5). In fact as it built audience in the 9 o'clock hour, ABC's replay movie beat out Fox's original Kitchen Nightmares by 2.7 million viewers (5.4 million vs. 2.7 million) and by 64% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/5 vs. 1.1/3).

With the rebroadcast movie scheduled against the Olympics, ABC pulled in its top non-sports numbers in the 2-hour time period since November with viewers and young adults since 11/20/09.

Growing the 10 o'clock hour week-to-week for the Net, ABC News' 20/20 finished as the #1 non-sports program in its time period with key Adults (AD18-49/AD25-54).

 Opposite the Olympics, 20/20 boosted Friday's 10pm hour week-to-week by 1.2 million viewers (4.6 million vs. 3.4 million), by 18% in Adults 18-49 (1.3/4 vs. 1.1/3) and by 31% in Adults 25-54 (1.7/5 vs. 1.3/3).
