Turner Weekly Ratings - TNT Officially Scores Television's Top 3 New Summer Series Among Total Viewers
Turner spins the numbers for the week of August 20-26 plus the summer to date.

With the summer ratings season now over, TNT has officially scored the following ratings victories:

Television's Top 3 new summer series among total viewers:
#1. Major Crimes (6.3 million viewers)
#2. Perception (6.1 million viewers)
#3. Dallas (6.1 million viewers)

Cable's Top 5 scripted series this summer among total viewers:
#1. The Closer (8.3 million viewers
#2. Rizzoli & Isles (7.8 million viewers)
#3. Major Crimes (6.3 million viewers)
#4. Perception (6.1 million viewers)
#5. Dallas (6.1 million viewers)

Basic cable's #1 drama series this summer with adults 18-49:
#1. Falling Skies (2.5 million adults 18-49)

Basic cable's Top 4 scripted series this summer with adults 25-54:
#1. Falling Skies (2.9 million adults 25-54)
#2. Rizzoli & Isles (2.8 million adults 25-54)
#3. Dallas (2.6 million adults 25-54)
#4. The Closer (2.6 million adults 25-54)

Driven by the power of its original series, TNT's summer primetime averages have grown 4% among total viewers, +2% among adults 18-49 and +2% among adults 25-54, compared to summer 2011. In addition, TNT ranks as this summer's #1 basic cable network in total day delivery of adults 25-54.

TNT closed out summer on a high note, claiming basic cable's Top 6 telecasts in August in Live + Same Day delivery. Topping the list is the series finale of The Closer, which scored 9.1 million viewers in Live + Same Day and has already grown to more than 10.7 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery, making it the largest audience ever for an episode of a TNT series.

#3. Rizzoli & Isles (8/14/12) - 6.0 million viewers

#6. Major Crimes (8/20/12) - 5.4 million viewers

In addition, the Aug. 13 series finale of The Closer ranked as the month's #1 scripted program on basic cable among adults 18-49 (2.0 million) and adults 25-54 (2.7 million), with the Aug. 19 season finale of Falling Skies coming in second among adults 25-54 (2.1 million).

Meanwhile, the final week of August saw Major Crimes rank as basic cable's #1 program for the week, with 5.4 million viewers last Monday. And TNT's hit caper drama Leverage showed solid growth as it moved to its new Sunday 9 p.m. timeslot. This past week's episode drew 2.6 million viewers, up 10% compared to the prior week, with more than 1 million adults 18-49 (+22%) and 1.2 million adults 25-54 (+13%).

Live + 7

Time-shifted viewing data indicates millions of viewers are making a concerted effort to catch every episode of their favorite TNT dramas. The following are the final Live + 7 figures for episodes airing the week of Aug. 6:
The Closer (Aug. 6): 8.2 million viewers; 2.1 million adults 18-49; 2.8 million adults 25-54
Perception (Aug. 6): 6.1 million viewers; 1.7 million adults 18-49; 2.2 million adults 25-54
Dallas (Aug. 8 Season Finale): 5.9 million viewers; 2.3 million adults 18-49; 2.7 million adults 25-54
Leverage (Aug. 12): 3.5 million viewers: 1.3 million adults 18-49; 1.6 million adults 25-54
Falling Skies (Aug. 12): 5.3 million viewers; 2.6 million adults 18-49; 3.0 million adults 25-54

Adult Swim

Adult Swim continued its monthly delivery streak as basic cable's #1 network for Total Day Delivery of young adults 18-34, 18-49 and 18-24 as well as men 18-34, 18-49 & 18-24. Adult Swim also ranked #3 for the month in Prime Time (Broadcast definition) delivery of adults 18-34 among basic cable networks, behind USA & TBS.

Among Adult Swim's original programming, premiere episodes of Aqua Something You Know Whatever (Sunday, 12 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-24, men 18-34 and men 18-24, earning delivery growth across all targeted demos ranging between 3% and 21%. Similarly, Squidbillies (Sunday, 12:15 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among men 18-34 and men 18-24, earning delivery gains across the board ranging between 12% and 27%.

Premiere episodes of Black Dynamite (Sunday, 11:30 p.m.) also ranked #1 in its time period among men 18-34 & 18-49, increasing delivery between 6% and 11%.

Adult Swim programming accounted for 22 of the top 50 telecasts of the month on basic cable among adults 18-34, more than any other network.

Cartoon Network

Across August 2012, Cartoon Network earned significant double-digit growth across all targeted kids demos vs. August 2011 to rank as basic cable's #1 network for Early Prime (7-9 p.m.) delivery of boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14. Average kids 2-11 delivery grew by 11%, kids 6-11 by 10% and kids 9-14 by 21%. Cartoon Network also ranked #1 in Total Day delivery of boys 6-11 & 9-14, and grew average kids delivery across the board vs. last year - kids 2-11 grew by 2%, kids 6-11 by 4% and kids 9-14 by 16%.

Monday night's original animated comedies line-up (7-9 p.m.) ranked as all TV's #1 network for all kids 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14, and all boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14. Compared to the August 2011 time period, average Monday night kids 2-11 delivery grew by 6%, kids 6-11 by 2% and kids 9-14 by 17%. Among the original series, Adventure Time (7:30 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period on all TV among kids 2-11/6-11 and all boys; Regular Show (8 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period on all TV among kids 6-11 and all boys, plus #1 on basic cable among kids 2-11; and Annoying Orange (8:30 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among all boys.

Tuesday night's Total Drama: Revenge of the Island (7:30 p.m.) scored as the #1 program on Tuesdays among boys 9-14, and grew all kids and boys demos by double and triple digits - between 39% and129% - vs. the same time period last year. Similarly, Wednesday night's Ninjago (8 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among kids 6-11 and all key boy demos, posting double and triple-digit delivery increases - between 82% and 133% - compared to last year's time period.

TBS

TBS's summer success was marked by extraordinary primetime growth, with delivery of total viewers up 44%, adults 18-34 up 20% and adults 18-49 up 33%, compared to last summer.

The Big Bang Theory, which has been a major driver of TBS's growth since last September, ranks as basic cable's #1 acquired series for the summer, with 2.5 million viewers and 1.3 million adults 18-49. Meanwhile, The Big Bang Theory and Tyler Perry's For Better Or Worse have topped the August charts as basic cable's #1 and #2 sitcoms among total viewers and adults 18-49.

During the final week of summer, TBS's hit original sitcom Sullivan & Son drew more than 2.3 million viewers Thursday night, with 510,000 adults 18-34 (+2% compared to the prior week's episode) and 1.2 million adults 18-49 (+4%).

TBS's late-night series CONAN has averaged 1 million viewers this summer, up 7% over Summer 2011. CONAN is in a tie for the youngest audience of all the late-night talk shows, with a Summer median age of 39. CONAN also outranks all of the late-night talk shows on the broadcast networks in delivery of adults 18-34, as well as cable rivals on E! Entertainment and Bravo.

truTV

truTV closed out a strong summer by ranking among ad-supported cable's Top 10 networks with men 18-34 and men 18-49 for the month of August. It was also one of the Top 10 entertainment networks with total viewers. For the summer overall, truTV ranked as one of cable's Top 10 entertainment networks in primetime delivery of men 18-34.

Lizard Lick Towing (Mondays at 10 p.m.) brought in 2.7 million viewers in August, ranking among the Top 5 ad-supported cable programs in the timeslot with total viewers, as well as key adult and male demos. It also scored a notably young median age of only 37.

Hardcore Pawn (Tuesdays at 9 p.m.) was ad-supported cable's #1 program in the timeslot with men 18-49 during August, while also tallying Top 5 rankings with key adult demos and total audience (2.8 million viewers).

Storage Hunters (Sundays at 10 p.m.) drew 2.1 million viewers in August and snared a Top 5 finish among ad-supported cable programs in the timeslot with men 18-49.
