DISCOVERY CHANNEL WINS FRIDAY NIGHT WITH SEASON FINALE OF "YUKON MEN" AND "GOLD RUSH" SPECIAL

(Silver Spring, Md.) - Discovery dominated this past Friday night with the season finale of freshman series YUKON MEN as well as a GOLD RUSH special. These two programs were the top two programs in cable (excluding sports) for Persons and Men 25-54 and Men 18-49. YUKON MEN went out on top when it finished up the season on Friday, October 19 at 9pm ET/PT. YUKON MEN was the #1 non-sports program in cable among P/M 25-54 and P/M 18-49 delivery. Earning a 1.46 HH / 1.11 P25-54, the two-hour finale delivered an average of 2.15 million viewers P2+.

Additionally, the special GOLD RUSH "The Long Road" came in with large numbers on Friday, October 19 at 8pm ET/PT. GOLD RUSH "The Long Road" was the #2 non-sports program in cable among P/M25-54 and M 18-49. Earning a 1.08 HH/ 0.94 P25-54, this one-hour program delivered an average of 1.50 million viewers P2+.

This Friday, find out what the GOLD RUSH miners did in the off-season to prepare to strike it rich in the all new special "Do or Die" beginning at 7:30pm ET/PT. Then at 9pm ET/PT, GOLD RUSH returns for an all new season - and this year, someone strikes it rich. After finding just 35 ounces of gold last year, 18-year-old Parker Schnabel has to prove to his grandfather he's got what it takes to be a real Alaskan gold miner and can turn a profit at the claim. Across the creek from Parker is the Porcupine Creek mine run by "Dakota Fred" Hurt and his son Dustin. They pulled in 80.4 ounces last year, but that just whet their appetite. The weather turned last season just as they hit bedrock at the bottom of the glory hole - a spot thought to contain millions of dollars worth of gold. And In their quest to find 1,000 ounces of gold this season, more than ten times the amount they found last season, the Hoffmans double down with two claims, two wash plants, twice the crew and twice the equipment. And at his insistence, Dave Turin leads the second mine, forcing the Hoffman crew to pick sides.
