Live + 7 Day Ratings: ABC's "Modern Family" is the Week's Top Series in TV Playback

Live + 7 Day Ratings for the week of 11/12/12 (Week #8):

Based on Nielsen's TV playback data for the week, ABC claimed 2 of the 5 biggest gainers via time-shifted viewing in Adults 18-49 with Modern Family (+2.2 rating points) and Grey's Anatomy (+1.6 rating points). Increasing its TV playback gains week to week, Modern Family was also the week's biggest gainer in Total Viewers (+4.64 million viewers) and, for its 7th straight telecast, in young adults.

Please note: ABC's Once Upon a Time and Revenge were pre-empted during the week for the 2012 AMAs.

· Standing as the biggest percentage gainer for any new series during the week, ABC's freshman Nashville saw its Adult 18-49 number jump an enormous 72% this week over its originally reported number, growing to a 3.1 rating in the final Live + 7 numbers. The new ABC drama topped the time-shifted gains of NBC's competing rookie drama in Wednesday's 10 o'clock hour (Chicago Fire: +63%) and NBC's Revolution (+69%).

· ABC delivered 4 of the Top 15 biggest overall gainers, with each show adding on at least 3.0 million viewers over their first-reported Live + Same Day numbers: Modern Family - top gainer overall (+4.64 million), Castle (+3.84 million), Grey's Anatomy (+3.27 million) and Nashville (+2.97 million).

· Among Adults 18-49, 4 of ABC's series registered substantial ratings increases of at least 1.0 rating point: Modern Family - top gainer overall (+2.2 rating - 4.6 to 6.8), Grey's Anatomy (+1.6 rating - 3.2 to 4.8), Nashville (+1.3 rating - 1.8 to 3.1) and Castle (+1.0 rating - 1.9 to 2.9).

Season-to-Date TV Playback (9/24/12-11/18/12):

Based on TV playback data for the 2012-13 season, ABC's Modern Family is the season's biggest gainer via time-shifted viewing in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, adding on +4.44 million viewers and +2.2 rating points. ABC's Nashville adds on +1.3 Adult 18-49 rating points over its Live + Same Day number, standing as the season's #2 new show in time-shifted gains.

· With Modern Family (7.1 rating) and Grey's Anatomy (5.3), ABC claims this season's #1 scripted series/comedy and #1 broadcast drama, respectively, in the key young adult demo. In fact, Modern Family leads CBS' The Big Bang Theory (7.0) and stands as the #1 entertainment program this season to date.
