CBS News' "48 Hours: The Stranger Beside Me" Was Saturday's #1 Primetime Program in Both Households and Viewers

CBS NEWS' "48 HOURS: THE STRANGER BESIDE ME" WAS SATURDAY'S #1 PRIMETIME PROGRAM IN BOTH HOUSEHOLDS AND VIEWERS

CBS News' 48 HOURS: "The Stranger Beside Me" was Saturday's #1 primetime program in both households and viewers, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Dec. 29, 2012. 48 HOURS (R) (10:00-11:00 PM) was first in households (3.4/06), viewers (4.90m), adults 25-54 (1.4/04) and adults 18-49 (1.0/03).

Saturday's broadcast featured Erin Moriarty and the 48 HOURS team's updated report on the disappearance of Jamie Laiaddee from her Arizona home and the investigation that revealed her boyfriend, Bryan Stewart, had conned her all along.

Police learned Stewart had been leading a double life, unbeknownst to Laiaddee. Police believed he had a hand in her disappearance, though they had no body and no crime scene. Investigators did find enough red flags to take the case to trial. Stewart maintained Laiaddee, with his guidance, left Arizona with $100,000 of her father's money to start a new life with a new identity.

A jury didn't believe him, and a year and a half after Laiaddee vanished, Bryan Stewart, known by his original name, Rick Wayne Valentini, was found guilty and sentenced to 54 years for fraud and murder.
