Live + 7 Day Ratings: ABC's "Scandal" Achieves Its Largest Time-Shifted Gains Ever Among Adults 18-49

Live + 7 Day Ratings for the week of 2/18/13 (Week #22):

Based on Nielsen's TV playback data for the week, ABC's Modern Family was the biggest gainer via time-shifted viewing in Adults 18-49 for the 15th time in its 15 weeks of original telecasts, adding on +2.2 rating points this week to its originally reported Live + Same Day number. The ABC sitcom also registered as the week's biggest overall gainer, picking up another +4.54 million viewers in the Live + 7 Day statistics. After matching its most competitive finish ever with Fox's American Idol as Wednesday's #1 show in Adults 18-49 in the previously reported L+SD ratings (coming within 1-tenth of a rating point), Modern Family towered over Idol-Weds by more than a full rating point in the final L+7 numbers (+1.2 rating points - 6.2 rating vs. 5.0 rating). Modern Family also improved its advantage over Idol-Thurs to +1.5 Adult 18-49 rating points (6.2 vs. 4.7) in the Live + 7 Day statistics (from one-tenth of a rating point in the L+SD ratings originally).

ABC's red-hot Scandal scored its biggest time-shifted gains yet with Adults 18-49, adding on +1.2 rating points to its initially L+SD number to rank among the week's Top 10 biggest broadcast gainers with young adults. In fact, the sophomore ABC show placed among the Top 5 biggest drama gainers on the broadcast networks this week.

· Among Adults 18-49, ABC had 3 series register substantial ratings increases more than a full rating point: Modern Family (+2.2 rating points), Grey's Anatomy (+1.5 rating points) and Scandal (+1.2 rating points).

· ABC had 5 telecasts add on at least 2.5 million viewers over their originally reported L+SD numbers: Modern Family (+4.54 million), Castle (+3.26 million), Grey's Anatomy (+3.21 million), Scandal (+2.94 million) and Body of Proof (+2.56 million).

Please note: ABC's Nashville was pre-empted this week for Mad About Oscar with Katie Couric, while Once Upon a Time and Revenge were pre-empted for the Oscars.

Season-to-Date TV Playback (9/24/12-2/24/13):

Based on TV playback data for the 2012-13 season, ABC's Modern Family is the season's biggest gainer via time-shifted viewing in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, adding on +4.57 million viewers and +2.3 rating points.

· Grey's Anatomy is the season's #1 broadcast drama in Adults 18-49 (4.9 - tied with NBC's Revolution), while picking up +1.7 rating points on average this season.
