"Smash" Is the Most Upscale Broadcast Drama So Far This Season in Its Concentration of Adults 18-49 Living in Homes with $100K+ Incomes
NBC spins the numbers for Tuesday, March 19.

Tuesday Results:

* From 10-11 p.m. ET, "Smash" (0.8/2 in 18-49, 2.6million viewers overall) grew from its first half-hour to its second by 14 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 0.8 rating from a 0.7), by 11 percent in adults 25-54 (1.0 vs. 0.9) and 8 percent in total viewers (2.7 million vs. 2.5 million), a rare accomplishment in the 10 p.m. hour. Rival dramas on ABC and CBS declined half-hour to half-hour in all three categories..

* Note that "Smash" continues to add an exceptional amount of viewership via time-shifting, with last week's 18-49 rating growing by 63 percent or 0.55 of a point going from these next-day "live plus same day" ratings to "live plus three day" results (to a 1.42 from a 0.87). In that slot, last week's "Golden Boy" went up 15 percent from L+SD to L+3 (to a 1.79 from a 1.55, 0.24 of a point) and "Body of Proof" grew by 50 percent (1.77 vs. 1.18, 0.59 of a point).

* "Smash" is also currently the most upscale drama on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox so far this season in its concentration of adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes, and tied for the #2 most upscale series overall on those networks, with an index of 165 in "most current" results that include "live plus three day" time-shifting (100 represents an average concentration of those homes), up from a 150 index last season.

* At 8 p.m. ET, "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall) is 25 percent or up 0.2 of a rating point in adults 18-49 and 3 percent in total viewers versus last week's encore in this time period (0.8/3 in 18-49, 3.590 million viewers overall).

* At 8:30 p.m. ET, "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall) grew by 22 percent or 0.2 of a rating point in 18-49 and 3 percent in total viewers versus last week's results in this time period (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.586 million viewers overall), despite this week's debut in the hour of ABC's "Splash."

* At 9 p.m. ET, "Go On" averaged a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 2.9 million viewers overall) and at 9:30 p.m. ET, "The New Normal" delivered a 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 2.1 million viewers overall.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Tuesday night:

* In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.2/6; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.7/7; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.3/6.

* In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 Wednesday results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.6/3; "Late Show," 0.6/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.8/4.

* From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET Wednesday night, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

* From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.1/4 in metered-market households) trailed CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.3/5). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49) tied "Late Late Show" (0.4/2).

* At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
