ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Turns in Its 2nd-Best Performance in Its New Slot with Adults 18-49

During the week of April 15, 2013, ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" surged week to week by 19% in Total Viewers (2.802 million vs. 2.364 million), drawing its biggest overall audience in 3 months - since the week of 1/21/13. "JKL" also shot up by 22% in Adults 18-49 (962,000 vs. 791,000) to deliver its 2nd-best performance since moving to 11:35 p.m. (behind only its new time slot premiere week).

On average through its first 15 weeks at 11:35 p.m., ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" stands less than 100,000 Adult 18-49 viewers from NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (928,000 vs. 1.022 million) In fact, "JKL" has eliminated nearly -80% of its young adult gap with "Leno" since the move to 11:35 p.m. (-78%), as more than 400,000 Adult 18-49 viewers stood between the two late-night programs during the same 15 weeks last year.

Friday's Broadcast is Most-Watched in New Time Period in Total Viewers, Adults 25-54, and Adults 18-49

On Average in New Time Period, "Nightline" Continues to Improve ABC's Year-to-Year Performance in Total Viewers (+8%)

For the week of April 15, 2013, ABC News' "Nightline" drew 1.778 million Total Viewers, 808,000 Adults 25-54 and 599,000 Adults 18-49, according to Nielsen Media Research. "Nightline" hit time period highs in its new 12:35 a.m. time-slot in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, while delivering its strongest Adults 25-54 performance since its time period debut (w/o 1/7/13). Further, "Nightline" turned in ABC's strongest performance in the time period in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 since November - since w/o 11/26/12 and w/o 11/5/12, respectively.

"Nightline" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54, outperforming CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (+382,000 and +126,000, respectively) and NBC's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (+253,000 and +43,000, respectively).

On Friday (4/19/13), "Nightline" delivered its most-watched telecast in its new time period in Total Viewers (2.294 million), Adults 25-54 (1.162 million) and Adults 18-49 (888,000).

On average in its new time period, "Nightline" has improved ABC's performance compared to the same weeks last year in Total Viewers (+8%). In addition, "Nightline" leads CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" by +110,000 Total Viewers and by +25,000 Adults 25-54.

During the week of April 15, "Nightline" was the place to turn to for the most up-to-date details on the Boston Marathon bombing and aftermath, as well as the West, Texas tragic factory explosion. On several nights "Nightline" broadcast live updates for both the East and West coast.
