"Grimm" Maintains Its 18-49 Rating of a Week Ago Despite Special Competition from the "Dancing with the Stars" Finale
NBC spins the numbers for Tuesday, May 21.

[via press release from NBC]

Tuesday Results:

NBC is #1 Tuesday night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 with "The Voice" (3.1/9 from 9-10:01 p.m. ET) ranking as the #1 program on a night that included ABC's two-hour finale of "Dancing With the Stars" (2.6/7 from 9-11) and Fox's two-hour "So You Think You Can Dance" (1.9/6 from 8-10).

* From 9-10:01 p.m. ET, "The Voice" (3.1/9 in 18-49, 10.0 million viewers overall) won the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in every key demographic -- adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 -- with margins in adults 18-49 of 35 percent versus ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" finale (3.1 vs. 2.3 from 9-10) and 63 percent versus the second hour of Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" (3.1 vs. 1.9). Note that every regular telecast of "The Voice" so far this cycle has grown by 0.1-0.2 of a rating point from these preliminary fast-affiliate ratings to the official-national results.

* "The Voice" is up by 63 percent in 18-49 rating versus NBC's season average in the time period prior to the May 14 debut of the one-hour "Voice" in this slot (with a 3.1 vs. a 1.9, L+SD, excludes live news and sports) and up 91 percent in total viewers (9.992 million vs. 5.219 million).

* From 10:01-11 p.m. ET, the season finale of "Grimm" (1.7/5 in 18-49, 5.2 million in total viewers) maintained its 18-49 rating of a week ago despite last night's special competition from the second hour of the "Dancing With the Stars" finale. In the time period, "Grimm" is #2 in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and virtually all other key demographics among ABC, CBS and NBC. "Grimm" is currently retaining 97 percent of last week's result in total viewers (5.220 million vs. 5.358 million), pending updates.

* Note that "Grimm" is one of the most time-shifted series on broadcast television, with the prior week's telecast growing by 60 percent when going from its "live plus same day" 18-49 rating (1.72) to its "live plus three day" result (2.75), which dramatically increased "Grimm's" margin of victory in the time period. ABC's second place "Body of Proof" grew by 29 percent (from a 1.40 to a 1.81) and CBS's "Golden Boy" increased by 18 percent (from a 1.19 to a 1.40), meaning "Grimm's" margin of victory in the slot over #2 "Body of Proof" grew from 23 percent in L+SD (1.72 vs. 1.40) to 52 percent in L+3 (2.75 vs. 1.81).

* From 8-9 p.m. ET, the NBC News Special "Devastation in Oklahoma" (2.0/6 in 18-49, 8.2 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key categories.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Tuesday night:

* In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.5/6; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.4/6; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.7/7.

* In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 Wednesday results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.8/4; "Late Show," 0.6/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.8/4.

* From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.3/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.2/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).
