TNT Scores Its 7th Consecutive Sweep of Basic Cable's Weekly Primetime Rankings

Propelled by Sunday night's season premiere of Falling Skies, Thursday night's launch of the new competition series The Hero and the closing game of the NBA Playoffs Eastern Conference Finals, TNT scored its 7th consecutive sweep of basic cable's weekly primetime rankings. TNT once again ranked #1 in primetime with total viewers, adults 25-54, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34. The network also took first-place among adults 25-54 in total day.

TNT's epic drama Falling Skies, starring Noah Wyle, opened its third season with 4.2 million viewers in Live + Same Day and ranked as basic cable's #1 scripted program for the week among adults 18-49 (1.9 million) and adults 25-54 (2.1 million). While Falling Skies' delivery of adults 18-49 was up slightly over last year's season premiere, the show garnered significant growth among the younger set, boosting its delivery of adults 18-34 (772,000) by +24%.

TNT's new competition series The Hero is off to a strong start, with last Thursday's premiere garnering 1.7 million viewers in Live + 3. The series, which is hosted and executive-produced by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, has drawn 1 million adults 25-54 and 1 million adults 18-49 in Live + 3.

TNT's exclusive presentation of the 2013 NBA Eastern Conference Finals Game 7 between the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers topped the charts as basic cable's #1 program for the week among total viewers (11.6 million), adults 25-54 (6.0 million), adults 18-49 (6.4 million) and adults 18-34 (3.7 million). Game 7, which earned a 7.1 U.S. household rating, also ranks as TNT's highest-rated and most-viewed NBA telecast in the network's 29-year history with the league.

Overall, TNT's coverage of this year's NBA Eastern Conference Finals averaged 8.4 million viewers, an increase of +8% compared to the network's coverage of the 2012 NBA Western Conference Finals. In addition, the corresponding 5.2 U.S. household rating grew by +4% over last year's 5.0 average rating.

Following Game 7, TNT's Sports Emmy(R)-winning Inside the NBA averaged more than 4.4 million viewers. It ranked second for the week among basic cable's top programs with adults 25-54 (2.5 million), adults 18-49 (2.6 million) and adults 18-34 (1.5 million).

TNT's Sunday 6 p.m. telecast of the blockbuster movie Transformers ranked as basic cable's #1 movie for the week among adults 25-54 (1.1 million) and adults 18-49 (1.2 million).

Adult Swim

Across June 2013 Week 2, Adult Swim's Total Day Delivery ranked #1 on basic cable among adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 and men 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49. Compared to the same week last year, average delivery grew among adults 18-24 grew by 16%, adults 18-34 by 10%, adults 18-49 by 11%, men 18-24 by 20%, men 18-34 by 9% and men 18-49 by 10%.

In Broadcast Primetime, Adult Swim ranked #2 among basic cable networks for average delivery of adults 18-34. Versus the same week in 2012, Primetime delivery grew by significant double digits across all targeted demos - adults 18-24 by 23%, adults 18-34 by 20%, adults 18-49 by 18%, men 18-24 by 35%, men 18-34 by 20% and men 18-49 by 20%.

Adult Swim's original comedy special The Greatest Event in Television History 2 (Thursday, 12 a.m.) premiered #1 in its time period among adults 18-24 & 18-34 and men 18-24 - ranging between 7% and 31% - while also earning growth among all adult demos and men 18-24 & 18-34 vs. the same time period year ago.

A new episode premiere of The Venture Bros. (Sunday, 12 a.m.) ranked #1 in its timeslot among adults 18-24 & 18-34 and all men 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49, while increasing delivery by double-digits across the board vs. last year's time period.

The Saturday TOONAMI block new episodes of Bleach (12 a.m.), Naruto (12:30 a.m.) and One Piece (1 a.m.) ranked #1 in their respective timeslots among adults 18-24 & 18-34 and all male demos. Similarly, Soul Eater (1:30 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-24 and all men. All new episode premieres during TOONAMI scored double-digit delivery gains across all targeted adults vs. last year.

Adult Swim programming - including Family Guy, American Dad, Robot Chicken and The Cleveland Show - accounted for 28 of the top 50 telecasts on basic cable for the week among adults 18-34, and for 35 of the top 50 telecasts with men 18-34, both more than any other network.

Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network's BAFTA and International Emmy(R) Award-winning animated series The Amazing World of Gumball (Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.) scored as all television's #1 telecast of the week among boys 6-11, the #1 telecast of the Day among kids 6-11 and boys 2-11 & 6-11, and #1 in its time period among all kids and boys' demos. The new episode telecast also outperformed Nickelodeon, Disney and Disney XD by double and triple-digits in key kids and boy's demos.

Overall across the second week of June 2013, Cartoon Network ranked as television's #1 network for Total Day and Early Prime (7-9 p.m.) delivery of boys 6-11 & 9-14.

On a nightly basis, Cartoon Network ranked as television's #1 destination for kids 2-11/6-11 and all key boys on Wednesday night, while also #1 among all boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday Night (7-9 p.m.).

The original animated series Teen Titans GO! episode premiere (Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.) charted as the #1 telecast of the day among boys 6-11, and #1 in its time period with kids 2-11 and all boys. Immediately before that, Johnny Test (7 p.m.) also ranked #1 in its time period among all boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14.

Thursday's episode premiere of Annoying Orange (7:30 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among all boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14.

Saturday Morning delivery scored solid gains among all kids and boys 2-11 & 6-11 compared to the prior year - ranging between 4% and 17% - with episode premieres of Pokemon BW: Adventures in Unova (8:30 a.m.) and Beyblade: Metal Fury (8 a.m.) ranking #1 in their respective time periods among boys 9-14.

TBS

TBS's original comedy series Men at Work closed out its second season with 2.1 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery, a jump of +24% over the prior week. In key demos, Men at Work drew 1.2 million adults 18-49 in Live + 3 (+18%) and 688,000 adults 18-34 (+20%).

With Men at Work and episodes of The Big Bang Theory, TBS claimed 17 of basic cable's Top 20 sitcom telecasts for the week among adults 18-34. TBS also scored 19 of the Top 20 among adults 18-49.

Tuesday night's season finale of TBS's hidden-camera comedy Who Gets the Last Laugh? attracted 1.3 million viewers in Live + 3, including 723,000 adults 18-49 and 344,000 adults 18-34.

truTV

truTV's hit series Hardcore Pawn rang up more than 2 million viewers Tuesday night at 9 p.m., ranking as one of ad-supported cable's Top 5 entertainment programs in the timeslot with total viewers, as well as men 18-49 (446,000). It also helped truTV earn a Top 10 ad-supported cable ranking for the night among total viewers, men 18-49 and men 18-34.

truTV's hit towing series South Beach Tow (Wednesday at 9:30 p.m.) landed 1.6 million viewers, up a remarkable +32% over last week's episode. In the demos, the show averaged 741,000 adults 18-49 (+32%) and 376,000 men 18-49 (+22%). South Beach Tow ranked as one of ad-supported cable's Top 5 programs in the timeslot with adults 18-49 and one of the Top 5 entertainment programs in the timeslot with key male demos. It also sparked truTV to rank as one of ad-supported cable's Top 10 networks for the night with adults 18-34 and men 18-34, as well as one of the Top 10 entertainment networks on ad-supported cable among adults 18-49 and men 18-49.
