ABC's "The Bachelorette" Grows by Double-Digits to Season Highs

From 8-10pm against the NHL Stanley Cup Finals, ABC's The Bachelorette ranked as the #1 regular program in its 2-hour time period with Total Viewers and Adults 18-49. In addition, the ABC unscripted series won its time slot across all key Women (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54) and finished as Monday's #1 TV show with Women 18-34. Spiking by double-digits week to week in Total Viewers (+16%) and Adults 18-49 (+12%), The Bachelorette drew its largest audience this season and equaled a season high in young adults (matching its season premiere).

At 10pm, ABC's Mistresses is seeing substantial gains in TV playback. Based on the first round of Live + 7 Day ratings for the new drama, Mistresses' Adult 18-49 rating jumped 58%, going from a 1.2 in the L+SD data to a 1.9 in the L+7 data. And in the Live + 3 Day ratings, Mistresses has increased by 5-tenths of an AD18-49 rating point from its next day number on each of its first 3 telecasts.

From 8:00-10:00 p.m. against the NHL Stanley Cup Finals on NBC, ABC's "The Bachelorette" ranked as the No. 1 regular program in its 2-hour time period with Total Viewers (6.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.9/6). In addition, the ABC unscripted series won its time slot across all key Women (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54) and finished as Monday's No. 1 TV show with Women 18-34 (2.3/7). Spiking by double digits week to week in Total Viewers (+16%) and Adults 18-49 (+12%), "The Bachelorette" drew its largest audience this season and equaled a season high in young adults (matching its season premiere).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 48% currently, from 44% at the same point in 2012. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
