ABC's "Extreme Weight Loss" Hits Its Top Rating in Over 1 Year and Beats Fox's "SYTYCD" from 8-10pm

From 8-10pm in head-to-head competition, ABC's Extreme Weight Loss defeated Fox's 2-hour So You Think You Can Dance for the first time in Adults 18-49 (+8%). The ABC unscripted series grew in each half-hour of its telecast, rising by double digits from start to finish in viewers (+11%) and young adults (+27%).

· Up 18% over the prior week to a new season high in Adults 18-49, Extreme Weight Loss scored its top rating in more than 1 year (since 7/15/12). NBC's America's Got Talent (9-11pm) and Fox's SYTYCD were both down week to week.

Building 18% Week to Week to a New Season High in Adults 18-49, ABC's "Extreme Weight Loss" Scores its Strongest Rating in Over 1 Year

"Extreme Weight Loss" (8:00-10:00 p.m.)

From 8:00-10:00 p.m. in head-to-head competition, ABC's "Extreme Weight Loss" defeated Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" for the first time in Adults 18-49 (+8% - 1.3/4 vs. 1.2/4). The ABC unscripted series grew in each half-hour of its telecast, rising by double digits from start to finish in viewers (+11% - 3.5 million to 3.9 million) and young adults (+27% - 1.1/4 to 1.4/4).

· Up 18% over the prior week to a new season high in Adults 18-49, "Extreme Weight Loss" scored its top rating in more than 1 year (since 7/15/12). NBC's "America's Got Talent" (9:00-11:00 p.m.) and Fox's "SYTYCD" (8:00-10:00 p.m.) were both down week to week.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 48% currently, from 44% at the same point in 2012. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
