"SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE" DELIVERS BEST SEASON DEBUT IN THREE YEARS

Sept. 28 Premiere Telecast Hosted By Tina Fey Earns 2.4 Rating in 18-49 Demo

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - Oct. 3, 2013 - The 39th season premiere of "Saturday Night Live," with host Tina Fey and musical guest Arcade Fire, scored the highest adult 18-49 rating for an "SNL" debut in three years and delivered the biggest overall audience for a season opener in two years.

The Sept. 28 telecast drew a 2.4 rating/10 share in adults 18-49 and 6.5 million viewers overall.

The last "Saturday Night Live" season premiere to rate higher in 18-49 was the Sept. 25, 2010 telecast hosted by Amy Poehler with musical guest Katy Perry (2.6) and the last opener to generate a larger overall audience was the Sept. 24, 2011 edition hosted by Alec Baldwin with musical guest Radiohead.

Versus the 2012 debut, "SNL" was up 9% in 18-49 rating (2.4 vs. 2.2) and up 10% in total viewers (6.5 million vs. 6.0 million).

The 2.4 rating also equals the highest 18-49 demo for "SNL" since April 13 (with host Vince Vaughn and musical guest Miguel), which was a 2.5. The season finale (May 18 with host Ben Affleck and musical guest Kanye West) also averaged a 2.4.

The 6.5 million viewers who tuned represent an "SNL" high since the March 9 show (with host and musical guest Justin Timberlake) that drew 8.4 million.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise noted.
