Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC Tops Demos for the First Time This Season

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (10/31/13):

ABC (8.355 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.6, #1) pulled into the top spot on Thursday with its annual rebroadcast of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" (6.957 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 2.2, #4) followed by new episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" (8.882 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.6, #2) and "Scandal" (9.227 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.9, #1).

CBS (9.380 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.0, #2) then had to settle for second place with a repeat of "The Big Bang Theory" (11.563 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.5, #3) alongside new episodes of "The Millers" (9.568 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #T5) and "The Crazy Ones" (8.061 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.9, #7) plus another "The Big Bang Theory" (8.392 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.0, #T5) repeat and an original "Elementary" (9.348 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T8).

Next up was NBC (4.447 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) with a special "SNL Halloween" (5.514 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T8) followed by new episodes of "Sean Saves the World" (4.109 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #11), "The Michael J. Fox Show" (3.615 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.1, #12) and "Parenthood" (3.966 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.3, #10).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.603 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T4) was out of the hunt with a new "The X Factor" (3.248 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T13) and a repeat of "Glee" (1.959 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T15).

And finally, new episodes of "The Vampire Diaries" (2.108 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T13) and "Reign" (1.590 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T15) on The CW (1.849 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T4) closed out the night. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Diaries" delivered a 1.0 rating at 8:00/7:00c and "Reign" a 0.6 rating at 9:00/8:00c.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.8/4; "Late Show," 0.6/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.1/6.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.5/5 in metered-market households and a 0.6/4 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.3/5 in metered-market households) tied CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.3/5). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

ABC (13.57 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.8, #1) topped the charts on Thursday with its presentation of "The 46th Annual CMA Awards" (13.57 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.8, #2).

CBS (12.71 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.2, #2) then claimed the silver with its mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (15.65 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.1, #1), "Two and a Half Men" (12.61 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 3.6, #3), "Person of Interest" (13.50 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 3.0, #4) and "Elementary" (10.50 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.4, #T5).

Next up was FOX (6.17 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.3, #3) with a new "The X Factor" (6.01 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 2.2, #7) alongside a second "The X Factor" (6.33 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.4, #T5).

Meanwhile, NBC (4.12 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4) was out of the hunt with a rebroadcast of "The Voice" (3.79 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T9) plus a new "Rock Center With Brian Williams" (4.78 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T9).

And finally, originals from "The Vampire Diaries" (3.17 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.5, #8) and "Beauty and the Beast" (1.73 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #11) on The CW (2.45 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #5) closed out the night.
