Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: "The Sound of Music Live!" Delivers Monster Numbers for NBC

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (12/5/13):

NBC (18.470 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.6, #1) delivered record numbers last night with its presentation of "The Sound of Music Live!" (18.470 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.6, #T1).

CBS (9.500 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.5, #2) then had to settle for second place with its usual mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (15.261 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 4.6, #T1), "The Millers" (9.377 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.5, #4), "The Crazy Ones" (7.660 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 2.1, #7), "Two and a Half Men" (8.332 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.3, #6) and "Elementary" (8.186 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.8, #8).

Next up was ABC (6.565 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.2, #3) with originals from "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" (3.613 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T11), "Grey's Anatomy" (7.483 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 2.4, #5) and "Scandal" (8.600 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 3.1, #3).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.993 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4) served up new episodes of "The X Factor" (4.801 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.3, #9) and "Glee" (3.184 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.1, #10).

And finally, The CW (1.955 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #5) closed out the evening with fresh installments of "The Vampire Diaries" (2.255 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T11) and "Reign" (1.654 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #13). * At 12:35 a.m., "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.4/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.3/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49) tied "Late Late Show" (0.4/3).

* At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
