Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Tops Viewers, Demos with "NCIS," "Intelligence"

Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/7/14):

CBS (16.451 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.4, #1) was the top draw on Tuesday thanks to a new "NCIS" (20.654 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.9, #1), the premiere of "Intelligence" (16.586 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.4, #2) and an original "Person of Interest" (12.114 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.0, #4).

NBC (5.858 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) then took home the silver with fresh installments of "The Biggest Loser 15" (5.401 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T6) and "Chicago Fire" (6.772 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.9, #5).

Next up was ABC (4.992 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3) and its lineup of "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (6.479 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.1, #3), "The Goldbergs" (5.367 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T6), "Trophy Wife" (3.885 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.2, #12) and the launch of "Killer Women" (3.872 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #13).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.229 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3) served up new episodes of "Dads" (3.677 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T9), "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (3.481 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T9), "New Girl" (3.173 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.6, #8) and "The Mindy Project" (2.586 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.3, #11).

And finally, The CW (1.120 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the evening with repeats of "The Originals" (1.092 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.3, #15) and "Supernatural" (1.149 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.4, #14). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Originals" delivered a 0.2 rating while "Supernatural" posted a 0.3 rating.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.9/4; "Late Show," 0.5/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.7/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.5/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.2/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 19 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (1/8/13):

CBS (16.481 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.7, #1) was the network to beat on Tuesday with its original lineup of "NCIS" (20.874 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.5, #1), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (17.788 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.0, #2) and "Vegas" (10.781 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.6, #8).

NBC (4.967 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) then claimed the silver with the return of "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" (5.660 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T9), another "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" (6.141 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #5), "Go On" (4.252 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T9), "The New Normal" (3.257 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.3, #14) and "Parenthood" (5.246 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.9, #4).

Next up was FOX (3.219 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3) with fresh installments of "Raising Hope" (3.769 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T6), "Ben & Kate" (2.475 million viewers, #17; adults 18-49: 1.2, #15), "New Girl" (3.801 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 2.0, #3) and "The Mindy Project" (2.830 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T9).
