Friday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC Wins Demo Race with "Shark Tank"

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/10/14):

ABC (6.688 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) lead the demo race on Friday with the return of "Last Man Standing" (7.173 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3), "The Neighbors" (4.909 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #8), "Shark Tank" (7.305 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1) and "20/20" (6.718 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2).

CBS (9.326 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) then was the most-watched network thanks to a rebroadcast of "Intelligence" (5.046 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #9) followed by new episodes of "Hawaii Five-0" (10.442 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3) and "Blue Bloods" (12.490 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3).

Next up was FOX (4.660 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) with new episodes of "Bones" (6.788 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3) and "Raising Hope" (2.679 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10) plus the premiere of "Enlisted" (2.386 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.7, #13).

Meanwhile, NBC (3.809 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) served up the special "Going for Gold" (3.606 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10) alongside new episodes of "Grimm" (5.228 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.3, #7) and "Dracula" (2.591 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10).

And finally, a new "The Carrie Diaries" (0.837 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #14) and a repeat "Supernatural" (0.470 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #15) closed out the evening on The CW (0.653 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Carrie" delivered a 0.4 rating at 8:00/7:00c and "Supernatural" a 0.1 rating at 9:00/8:00c.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.8/3; "Late Show," 0.7/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.7/3 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.5/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.6/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.2/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (1/11/13):

CBS (10.303 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T1) was the top draw on Friday with its mix of "Undercover Boss" (9.034 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2), "CSI: NY" (10.743 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T3) and "Blue Bloods" (11.131 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T3).

Sharing the demo crown was ABC (6.139 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T1) and its original lineup of "Last Man Standing" (7.051 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T5), "Malibu Country" (6.153 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T7), "Shark Tank" (6.838 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) and "20/20" (4.976 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T5).

Next up was NBC (4.766 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) with encores of "1600 Penn" (3.126 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11) and another "1600 Penn" (2.924 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #10) plus a new two-hour "Dateline NBC" (5.636 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T7).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.456 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) served up a repeat of "Kitchen Nightmares" (2.494 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #9) alongside the penultimate week of "Fringe" (2.418 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11).
