ABC's "Nashville" Is Up for the 2nd Week to Its Best Rating Since 12/4/13

The Middle-R (8-8:30pm - 5.8 million and 1.5/4 in AD18-49):

At 8pm, ABC's The Middle scored its best repeat numbers in nearly 11 months in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 - since 3/6/13. The ABC comedy was up over its year-ago repeat telecast by 5% in Total Viewers and by 15% in Adults 18-49 (5.5 million and a 1.3/4 on 1/30/13).

Suburgatory (8:30-9pm - 5.1 million and 1.5/4 in AD18-49):

At 8:30pm, Suburgatory held 100% of its Adult 18-49 lead-in and built by 30% in Adults 18-34. In fact, Suburgatory was up for the 2nd week in a row with Adults 18-34 (+18% - 1.3/4 vs. 1.1/4) to a season-high and its best number since mid-April (topping its last 5 telecasts) - since 4/3/13.

Modern Family-R (9-9:30pm - 6.0 million and 1.9/5 in AD18-49):

At 9pm, ABC's Modern Family earned its highest repeat Adult 18-49 number since October (10/30/13) and finished as the #1 scripted show of the night (tying NBC's original Law & Order: SVU).

Nashville (10-11pm - 5.2 million and 1.5/4 in AD18-49):

Building on its lead-in at 10pm, Nashville was up week to week by 3% in Total Viewers and by 7% in Adults 18-49. Growing for its 2nd-straight telecast in Adults 18-49, Nashville scored its highest rating since the beginning of December - since 12/4/13 On average, Nashville is ABC's biggest percentage gainer in TV playback this season (Top 5 on all of broadcast), shooting up 75% in Adults 18-49 (+1.2 rating points) from L+SD to L+7.

Growing for its 2nd-straight telecast in Adults 18-49, the ABC drama scored its highest rating since the beginning of December - since 12/4/13. On average, "Nashville" is ABC's biggest percentage gainer in TV playback this season (Top 5 on all of broadcast), shooting up 75% in Adults 18-49 (+1.2 rating points) from L+SD to L+7.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 49% currently, from 47% at the same point in 2013. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
