"THE BET HONORS" 2014 IS THE #1 CY14 AWARD SHOW ON CABLE TV AMONG WOMEN 18-49

NEW YORK, NY -- (February 25, 2014) - "The BET Honors" 2014 premiere on Monday, February 24, drew in more than 2 million viewers. It is now the #1 CY14 award show on cable TV among Women 18-49. The show aimed at honoring distinguished African Americans performing at exceptional levels was up 5% from "The BET Honors" 2013 and is the #1 Monday telecast on BET Networks for the 2013-2014 season so far. BET continues to dominate the award show space with the top 4 award shows in cable this year among women 18-49; Soul Train Awards, Hip Hop Awards, Black Girls Rock! and The BET Honors.

Hosted by actor and comedian, Wayne Brady, this year's show celebrated the achievements of the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, Motown Records founder and creator of the smash hit MOTOWN THE MUSICAL, Berry Gordy, American Express CEO & Chairman, Ken Chenault, visual artist, Carrie Mae Weems and entertainment trailblazer, Ice Cube. The "BET Honors" 2014 star-studded line-up featured performances from Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson, Janelle Monae, Tamar Braxton, Smokey Robinson and Karen Clark Sheard with appearances by Rev. Al Sharpton, Joe Morton, Ludacris and Mack Wilds.

On BET.com, according to Omniture Site Catalyst, page views to "The BET Honors" content doubled night of premiere, resulting in 150% YOY increase in "The BET Honors" content consumption over the 2-day period. On social media, tweets during the telecast increased 11% over last year with #BETHonors being a top trending topic in the US during its telecast.
