Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: Encore "Got Talent" Still Enough for NBC Victory

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (7/8/14):

NBC (7.416 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1) held onto the top spot on Tuesday despite an encore "America's Got Talent" (7.920 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) and a new "The Night Shift" (6.408 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2).

ABC (3.363 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2) then claimed the silver with originals from "Extreme Weight Loss" (3.452 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4) and "Celebrity Wife Swap" (3.184 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4).

Next up was CBS (6.630 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) and its repeat lineup of "NCIS" (7.947 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (6.585 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6) and "Person of Interest" (5.356 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.178 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) served up its own second run mix of "Family Guy" (1.584 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #8), "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (1.071 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T9), another "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (1.013 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T9) and "The Mindy Project" (1.045 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T9).

And finally, repeats of "Arrow" (0.850 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T12) and "Supernatural" (0.796 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T12) on The CW (0.823 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Arrow" delivered a 0.2 rating while "Supernatural" posted a 0.1 rating.

In late-night metered market ratings (via NBC's press release):

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.8/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.0/5; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.5/4 with an encore.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.1/5; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 0.9/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.0/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 11 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (7/9/13):

NBC (7.609 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) was the top draw on Tuesday with its mix of "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" (3.710 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7), another "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" (3.995 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5) and a two-hour "America's Got Talent" (9.488 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.5, #1).

FOX (4.359 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2) then snaked the silver with its latest edition of "So You Think You Can Dance" (4.359 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2).

Next up was CBS (6.718 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) with repeats of its soon-to-be fall lineup of "NCIS" (8.519 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T3), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (6.197 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5) and "Person of Interest" (5.438 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7).

Meanwhile, ABC (3.086 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) offered up an original "Extreme Weight Loss" (3.332 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T3) plus a repeat of "Body of Proof" (2.594 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #9).

And finally, repeats of "Hart of Dixie" (0.614 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.2, #10) and "America's Next Top Model" (0.377 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.1, #11) on The CW (0.495 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) closed out the night. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Dixie" delivered a 0.3 rating at 8:00/7:00c and "Model" a 0.3 rating at 9:00/8:00c.
