Friday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC Tops Demos, CBS Leads Viewers

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (8/15/14):

ABC (4.136 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #1) was the demo champ on Friday with its mix of "Wipeout" (3.652 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4), "Shark Tank" (4.203 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) and "20/20" (4.555 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T1).

NBC (4.833 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2) then claimed the silver with its duo of "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" (3.024 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9) and a two-hour "Dateline NBC" (5.737 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T1).

Next up was CBS (6.059 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) and its repeat trio of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (5.804 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5), "Hawaii Five-0" (5.835 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5) and "Blue Bloods" (6.539 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.965 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) served up second runs of "MasterChef" (2.878 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5) and "Bones" (3.052 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5).

And finally, The CW (1.264 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) wrapped the evening with its mix of "Masters of Illusion" (1.396 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #11), "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.168 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T12) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.246 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T12). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), said trio posted a 0.2, 0.2 and 0.2 rating, respectively.

In late-night metered market ratings (via NBC's press release):

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.9/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 1.8/5 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.9/5 with an encore.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.0/5; "Late Show," 0.4/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.0/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (8/16/13):

FOX (4.687 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) scored the top spot on Friday with its coverage of "NFL Preseason: Buccaneers at Patriots" (4.687 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1).

NBC (4.969 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) then had to settle for second place with its mix of "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" (3.201 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6), another "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" (3.350 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #5) and a two-hour "Dateline NBC" (5.816 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2).

Next up was CBS (4.605 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3) and its all-repeat lineup of "Undercover Boss" (4.581 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3), "Hawaii Five-0" (4.289 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6) and "Blue Bloods" (4.945 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9).

Meanwhile, ABC (3.093 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3) served up its combination of "Last Man Standing" (3.227 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9), "The Neighbors" (2.303 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #12), "Shark Tank" (3.038 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6) and "20/20" (3.478 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3).

And finally, the return of "Perfect Score" (0.800 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T13), a second "Perfect Score" (0.711 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T13) and a new "America's Next Top Model" (1.361 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.5, #11) on The CW (1.058 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the night. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Score" delivered a 0.2 and a 0.3 rating at 8:00/7:00c and "Top Model" a 0.8 rating at 9:00/8:00c.
