Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC Tops Viewers, Demos with Fall Finales

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (11/20/14):

[EDITOR'S NOTE: Due to live coverage of the Presidential Address, Fast Nationals for FOX, ABC, CBS and NBC are approximate. The Presidential Address aired from 8-8:17pm, with FOX sliding prime in 36% of the country and joining prime in progress in 3% of the country.]

ABC (9.368 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.9, #1) was the network to beat on Thursday with the fall finales to "Grey's Anatomy" (8.283 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.4, #5), "Scandal" (10.017 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 3.1, #T2) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (9.805 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 3.1, #T2).

The silver then went to CBS (8.904 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.1, #2) and its mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (14.647 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.0, #1), "Mom" (10.644 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.7, #4), "Two and a Half Men" (8.970 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.3, #6), "The McCarthys" (6.353 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.4, #8) and "Elementary" (6.405 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #12).

Next up was NBC (4.425 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3) with its lineup of "The Biggest Loser" (5.127 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T9), "Bad Judge" (4.093 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.2, #11), "A to Z" (3.048 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.9, #13) and "Parenthood" (4.578 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.5, #7).

Meanwhile, FOX (4.225 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) served up originals from "Bones" (5.244 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T9) and "Gracepoint" (3.205 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T14).

And finally, new episodes of "The Vampire Diaries" (1.671 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T14) and "Reign" (1.154 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.4, #16) on The CW (1.413 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Diaries" delivered a 1.0 rating at 8:00/7:00c and "Reign" a 0.5 rating at 9:00/8:00c.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/4; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.0/5.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.7/5 in metered-market households and a 0.7/4 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.2/4 in metered-market households) tied CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.2/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 17 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (11/21/13):

CBS (11.034 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.6, #1) was of course the network to beat on Thursday with its mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (18.586 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.2, #1), "The Millers" (12.043 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.8, #3), "The Crazy Ones" (8.733 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.2, #5), "Two and a Half Men" (8.616 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.1, #6) and "Elementary" (9.114 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.8, #7).

ABC (6.941 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.1, #2) then took home the silver with its lineup of "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" (3.511 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T14), "Grey's Anatomy" (8.480 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 2.5, #4) and "Scandal" (8.832 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.9, #2).

Next up was FOX (5.156 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3) with originals from "The X Factor" (5.876 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T8) and "Glee" (4.436 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T8).

Meanwhile, The CW (2.549 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) served up fresh installments of "The Vampire Diaries" (2.904 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.3, #10) and "Reign" (2.194 million viewers, #17; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T14). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Diaries" delivered a 1.7 rating at 8:00/7:00c and "Reign" a 0.9 rating at 9:00/8:00c.
