ABC's The Bachelor and Castle Build on Monday

Monday Night (1/19/15) - ABC Total Viewer and Adult 18-49 Projections

The Bachelor: Live + 3 = 9.0 million/2.5 rating and Live + 7 = 9.3 million/2.6 rating

Castle: Live + 3 = 11.1 million/2.1 rating and Live + 7 = 12.2 million/2.3 rating

ABC Monday Prime (8-11pm - 7.5 million and 1.9/6 in AD18-49): ABC ran in a near tie with CBS for #1 on Monday in Adults 18-49 (1.9/6 vs. 2.0/6), leading Fox's original lineup by 12% (Gotham/Sleepy Hollow =1.7/5) and NBC's originals by 19% (Celebrity Apprentice/State of Affairs = 1.6/5). ABC won the night by 15% among Adults 18-34 (1.5/6 vs. 1.3/4-Fox).

The Bachelor (8-10pm - 7.5 million and 2.1/6 in AD18-49): From 8-10pm, ABC's The Bachelor beat NBC's Celebrity Apprentice head-to-head by 15% in Total Viewers (7.5 million vs. 6.5 million) and by 17% Adults 18-49 (2.1/6 vs. 1.8/5), up from last week's advantages of 10% and 6%, respectively, The Bachelor surged by double digits over the prior week in Total Viewers (+15% - 7.5 million vs. 6.5 million) and Adults 18-49 (+17% - 2.1/6 vs. 1.8/5).

· The Bachelor ranked as Monday's #1 TV show in Adults 18-34 and key Women (W18-34/W18-49).

Castle (10-11pm - 7.5 million and 1.4/4 in AD18-49): ABC's Castle ran a strong second during the 10pm hour to CBS' NCIS: LA, beating NBC's State of Affairs by 3.0 million viewers (7.5 million vs. 4.5 million) and 27% in Adults 18-49 (1.4/4 vs. 1.1/3). The ABC drama finished #1 in its slot in Adults 18-34 and across all key Women (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).

· Castle was up week to week in Total Viewers (+10% - 7.5 million vs. 6.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (+8% - 1.4/4 vs. 1.3/4).

A note about DVR penetration: DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample is currently at 49% in U.S. TV Homes. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which are increasingly not reflected in the overnight Live + Same Day numbers. As a result, the Live + 7 Day ratings are the most accurate measure to gauge the size of the TV audience.
