Live + 7 Ratings: ABC Claims the #1 Biggest Playback Gainer in Adults 18-49 on 4 of 7 Nights of the Week

Live + 7 Day ratings for the week of 1/12/15 (Week #17):

For the 2nd straight week, ABC's Modern Family was the #1 biggest gainer in TV playback with Adults 18-49, picking up +2.1 rating points. Among Adults 18-49, ABC had the #1 biggest playback gainer on Monday (Castle), Tuesday (Forever), Wednesday (Modern Family) and Sunday (Revenge).

ABC's Revenge and Forever both shot up +100% over their Live+SD ratings to share the #1 spot as the week's biggest percentage gainer in Adults 18-49 on the broadcast networks. In fact, with this week, Revenge has delivered its Top 4 largest-ever L+7 increases in its last 5 original telecasts (soaring at least +100% on each occasion), while Forever matched its biggest-ever L+7 lift. In addition, ABC's Castle and Galavant also hit new playback highs, jumping +85% and +67%, respectively, in Adults 18-49 from L+SD to L+7.

On Friday (1/16/15), ABC's Last Man Standing and Shark Tank posted their biggest-ever L+7 lifts, both building +0.8 rating points over their L+SD Adult 18-49 rating. Growing to a 2.1 in Adults 18-49, LMS scored its second-highest L+7 rating of the season, while Shark Tank hit a new series high in L+7 with a 3.0 rating.

Season-to-Date TV Playback (9/22/14-1/18/15):

Based on TV playback data through 17 weeks of the 2014-15 season, ABC's How to Get Away with Murder (+2.2 rating points) and Modern Family (+2.2) share the #2 spot among broadcast gainers in Adults 18-49.

ABC's HTGAWM is the season's biggest gainer for any freshman series among Adults 18-49 (+2.2 rating points), topping the L+7 gains of runner-ups Fox's Empire (+1.7) and Gotham (+1.7). In fact, the L+7 lift for HTGAWM is outdelivering the lift of last season's top freshman gainer through the same point last season, NBC's The Blacklist (+2.0).

Among Adults 18-49 in the L+7 ratings, ABC has the #1 show on Wednesday with Modern Family (5.6 rating-tie), the Top 3 dramas on Thursday with HTGAWM (5.2), Scandal (4.8) and Grey's Anatomy (4.0) and the #1 show on Friday with Shark Tank (2.6).

Several ABC's returning series are seeing bigger percentage gains among Adults 18-49 from L+SD to L+7 this year than last: The Bachelor (+29% vs. +24%), Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (+76% vs. +63%), The Middle (+35% vs. +23%), Modern Family (+65% vs. +54%), Revenge (+75% vs. +63%) and Scandal (+50% vs. +48%).
