Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Tops Demos with Expanded "The Voice"

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (4/7/15):

NBC (10.078 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.4, #1) was the network to beat on Tuesday with its expanded two-hour edition of "The Voice" (10.867 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.7, #1) and a new "Chicago Fire" (8.500 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.0, #3).

CBS (13.072 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) then claimed the silver with originals from "NCIS" (16.530 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #2), "NCIS: New Orleans" (14.008 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #4) and "Person of Interest" (8.677 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #7).

Next up was ABC (4.150 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and a new "Fresh Off the Boat" (4.839 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #6), a repeat "Fresh Off the Boat" (3.625 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #9) and fresh installments from "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (4.194 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.5, #5) and "Forever" (4.025 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.711 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) served up new episodes of "Hell's Kitchen" (3.470 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #8), "New Girl" (2.180 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10) and "Weird Loners" (1.724 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T12).

And finally, a repeat "The Flash" (1.520 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #14) and a new "iZombie" (1.832 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T12) on The CW (1.676 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former posted a 0.4 rating while the latter delivered a 0.5 rating.

· An encore "Last Call with Carson Daly" (0.4/3) tied for #3 with ABC's original "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (0.4/2) and CBS's encore "Late Show with David Letterman (0.4/2), despite starting two hours later than both shows.

· Despite a later start time, "Last Call" outrated ABC's "Nightline" (0.3/2) and CBS's "Late Late Show with James Corden" (0.3/2) in the Local People Meters.

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 3.0/8; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.0/5 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.6/4.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.2/6; "Late Show," 0.4/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with James Corden" (1.0/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show with James Corden" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (4/8/14):

NBC (8.077 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1) pulled back in front on Tuesday with its mix of "The Voice" (10.834 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.8, #1), "About a Boy" (7.143 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.8, #5), "Growing Up Fisher" (5.624 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.5, #7) and "Chicago Fire" (7.014 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.9, #4).

CBS (13.190 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.0, #2) then was a close second place with new episodes of "NCIS" (17.184 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.6, #2), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (14.365 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.3, #3) and a repeat "Person of Interest" (8.022 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #9).

Next up was ABC (3.404 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) with originals from "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (4.907 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.7, #6), "The Goldbergs" (4.301 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.4, #8), "Trophy Wife" (2.548 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #13) plus a repeat of "Resurrection" (1.881 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #14).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.553 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) served up fresh installments of "Glee" (2.794 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T11), "The Mindy Project" (2.267 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T11) and another "The Mindy Project" (2.358 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.1, #10).
