Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Tops Viewers, Shares Demo Crown with NBC

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (8/26/15):

CBS (5.706 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T1) was the most-watched network on Wednesday with new episodes of "Big Brother 17" (6.411 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) and "Extant" (4.912 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11) followed by a repeat "Criminal Minds" (5.794 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7).

NBC (5.679 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T1) then shared in the demo honors with its mix of "America's Got Talent" (8.277 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2), the launch of "The Carmichael Show" (4.828 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T4), a second "The Carmichael Show" (4.101 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7) and "Last Comic Standing" (4.295 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T4).

Next up was FOX (3.840 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) with fresh installments of "MasterChef" (4.522 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) and "Home Free" (3.159 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11).

Meanwhile, ABC (3.162 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) served up repeats of "The Middle" (3.773 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7), "The Goldbergs" (3.225 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11), "Modern Family" (3.693 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #6) and "Black-ish" (2.892 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7) plus a new "Celebrity Wife Swap" (2.694 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11).

And finally, originals from "America's Next Top Model" (1.344 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.5, #15) and "A Wicked Offer" (0.702 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.3, #16) on The CW (1.023 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former delivered a 0.6 rating while the latter posted a 0.2 rating.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.8/4 with an encore; "CBS Summer Showcase," 0.3/1 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.7/4.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.4/5 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.1/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.8/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 with an encore in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (8/27/14):

CBS (6.074 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) was the network to beat on Wednesday thanks to a new "Big Brother 16" (6.782 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.3, #1) alongside a new "Extant" (5.830 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5) and a second "Extant" (5.609 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T7).

NBC (6.487 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) then took home the silver with its mix of a "America's Got Talent" (5.508 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T7) recap followed by new episodes of "America's Got Talent" (9.260 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) and "Taxi Brooklyn" (4.694 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.8, #12).

Next up was ABC (4.043 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T3) with repeats of "The Middle" (4.125 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T7), "The Goldbergs" (3.804 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T7), "Modern Family" (4.482 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4), another "Modern Family" (4.436 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.5, #3) and the season finale of "Motive" (3.704 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #11).

And finally, a new "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.719 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.5, #13) and a repeat "The 100" (0.618 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #14) on The CW (1.168 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the night.
