Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: "Chicago" Dramas Rise in NBC Victory

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (3/29/16):

NBC (9.390 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1) was the top draw on Tuesday with a new "The Voice" (10.820 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.3, #1) alongside the return of "Chicago Med" (8.616 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T2) and "Chicago Fire" (8.736 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T2).

CBS (7.783 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) then took home the silver with repeats of "NCIS" (10.324 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5) and "NCIS: New Orleans" (8.763 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5) plus its special "The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special" (4.264 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10).

Next up was ABC (3.193 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) with originals from "Fresh Off the Boat" (4.556 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5), "The Real O'Neals" (3.752 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8), "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (3.231 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8) and "Beyond the Tank" (2.195 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #13).

Meanwhile, The CW (2.328 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) offered up new episodes of "The Flash" (3.329 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4) and "iZombie" (1.328 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T14).

And finally, FOX (1.700 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #5) closed out the night with a new "New Girl" (2.223 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10), a repeat "Grandfathered" (1.300 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T14), an original "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (1.963 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.8, #12) and a repeat "The Grinder" (1.312 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.4, #16).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/5; "Late Show," 0.3/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.8/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.1/1).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (3/31/15):

CBS (11.433 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T1) was the most-watched network on Tuesday with a new "NCIS" (16.325 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1) and the launch of "The Dovekeepers, Part 1" (8.986 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9).

NBC (5.612 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T1) however shared top demo honors with its mix of "The Voice" (8.374 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2), "Undateable" (5.054 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T3), "One Big Happy" (3.983 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6) and a repeat "Chicago Fire" (3.944 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T12).

Next up was ABC (4.265 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and fresh installments from "Fresh Off the Boat" (4.817 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #5), "Repeat After Me" (3.362 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T12), "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (4.174 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T3) and "Forever" (4.532 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.738 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4) served up new episodes of "Hell's Kitchen" (3.357 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6) and "New Girl" (2.322 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9) plus the premiere of "Weird Loners" (1.917 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T14).

And finally, originals from "The Flash" (3.503 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6) and "iZombie" (1.897 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T14) on The CW (2.700 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former posted a 0.8 rating while the latter delivered a 0.6 rating.
