Saturday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC, FOX Share Demo Crown

Here are the highlights of the eight ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (6/18/16):

CBS (2.966 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.4, #3) was the most-watched network on Saturday with its mix of "NCIS: Los Angeles" (2.683 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T5), "48 Hours" (2.821 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.4, #4) and another "48 Hours" (3.395 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1).

FOX (2.777 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1) then led the demo race with its coverage of "Baseball Night in America" (2.777 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1).

Sharing the adults 18-49 crown was ABC (2.577 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1) with a new "People's List" (2.110 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T5) and the return of "In an Instant" (2.811 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1).

And finally, NBC (1.318 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.3, #4) closed out the night with "Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon" (1.406 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T5) and "Premier Boxing Champions" (1.300 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T5).

In late-night metered market ratings (via NBC's press release):

· An encore telecast of "Saturday Night Live," with host Peter Dinklage and musical guest Gwen Stefani, averaged a 2.4 rating, 6 share in household results from the 56 markets metered by Nielsen Media Research and a 1.0/5 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

· "Saturday Night Live" ranks as the #1 telecast of the night on the Big 4 networks in both metered-market households (tie) and 18-49 in the local people meters.

· The June 18 "SNL" equaled the show's June 2015 average in 18-49 in the local people meters (1.0 vs. 1.0).

· Note that "SNL" adds significant viewership via time-shifting, with originals this past season growing by +49% going from L+SD to L+7 in adults 18-49 (1.83 to 2.72) and +2.090 million persons in total viewers (6.051 million to 8.141 million).


Here are the highlights of the eight ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (6/20/15):

FOX (4.121 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.8, #1) pulled into the top spot on Saturday with its primetime coverage of the "115th U.S. Open Championship" (4.121 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.8, #1).

NBC (2.174 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #2) then was a close second place with a repeat of "Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon" (1.877 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T4) and a new installment of "Premier Boxing Champions" (2.233 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #2).

Next up was CBS (3.290 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T3) with repeats of "Scorpion" (2.455 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.2, #8), "NCIS: New Orleans" (3.430 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.4, #6) and "48 Hours" (3.985 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.6, #3).

And finally, encores of "The Astronaut Wives Club" (1.740 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.3, #7) and "In an Instant" (2.379 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T4) on ABC (2.166 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T3) closed out the evening.

In late-night metered market ratings (via NBC's press release):

· An encore telecast of "Saturday Night Live," with host and musical guest Blake Shelton, averaged a 2.7 rating, 7 share in household results in Nielsen's 56 metered markets and a 1.1/6 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with Local People Meters (note that the Washington, D.C., and Richmond markets are delayed).

· "Saturday Night Live" scored its highest results in both metered-market households and 18-49 in the Local People Meters since May 30 (with host Cameron Diaz and musical guest Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, 2.8/7 in metered-market households, 1.3/6 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters).

· Versus the same night last year, the "SNL" rebroadcast is up +13% in metered-market households (2.7 vs. 2.4) and up +22% in 18-49 in the Local People Meters (1.1 vs. 0.9).

· Note that "SNL" adds significant viewership via time-shifting, with originals this season growing by an average of +44% going from "live plus same day ratings" to "live plus seven day" in adults 18-49 (from a 1.84 rating to a 2.65).
