 ABC Ranks a Strong 2nd on Wednesday in Adults 18-49
 ABC Wednesday Prime (8-11pm - 6.0 million and 1.6/6 in AD18-49):  ABC finished a strong 2nd on Wednesday in Adults 18-49 (1.6/6) to Fox with Empire, leading by double digits over CBS (+14% - 1.4/5) and NBC (+33% - 1.2/4).  ABC's Modern Family was the #2 TV show in Adults 18-49 (2.2/7) to Empire and The Goldbergs ranked as the #3 show on the night (1.8/7 - tied w/ CBS' Survivor).
  
 ·         Season to date, ABC is up on Wednesday by 1.8 million viewers (11.0 million vs. 9.2 million) and by 7% in Adults 18-49 (3.1/11 vs. 2.9/9), marking its most watched start to the season on the night in 5 years - since the first 8 weeks of Fall 2011.
 ·         ABC's Speechless (+2% - 5.7 million vs. 5.6 million), Modern Family (+1% - 7.3 million vs. 7.2 million) and black-ish (+6% - 5.6 million vs. 5.3 million) were each up week to week in Total Viewers.  In addition, black-ish gained 7% in Adults 18-49 from the prior week's National rating (1.6/5 vs. 1.5/5), which adjusted down 1-tenth from the Fast Affiliate ratings.
 ·         At 10pm, Designated Survivor held even week to week in L+SD Adults 18-49 (1.2/4), while growing 20% in Adults 18-34.  The new drama grew its hour from the year-ago night for ABC by 25% in Total Viewers and by 20% in Adults 18-49. On average, Designated Survivor leads the season in Live + 7 Day TV Playback, spiking over its L+SD numbers by +7.3 million Total Viewers and by +2.0 rating points among Adults 18-49.

On average, "Designated Survivor" leads the season in Live + 7 Day TV Playback, spiking over its L+SD numbers by +7.3 million Total Viewers and by +2.0 rating points among Adults 18-49.

 A note about DVR penetration: DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample is currently at 49% in U.S. TV Homes. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which are increasingly not reflected in the overnight Live + Same Day numbers. As a result, the Live + 7 Day ratings are the most accurate Nielsen measure to gauge the size of the TV audience.
