Monday's Broadcast Ratings: "The Bachelor" Returns on Top for ABC

Here are the highlights of the 11 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/2/17):

ABC (5.574 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) staked its claim to the demo crown on Monday with the return of "The Bachelor" (6.562 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1) plus its themed-special "Jimmy Kimmel Live: Here for the Right Reasons" (3.599 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #8).

NBC (4.800 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) then was the silver draw with the season premiere of "The Celebrity Apprentice" (4.931 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T3) and a second preview of "The Wall" (4.538 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5).

Next up was CBS (6.570 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) with originals from "Kevin Can Wait" (7.333 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2), "Man with a Plan" (6.529 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5), "2 Broke Girls" (5.844 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T3), "The Odd Couple" (5.304 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #9) and "Scorpion" (7.206 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.915 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) served up its "MasterChef Celebrity Showdown" (2.915 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #10) special.

And finally, an encore of "iHeartRadio Music Festival - Night 2" (0.923 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #11) on The CW (0.923 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.5/3 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.3/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 0.8/3 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 0.8/3 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/2 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/1 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.5/2 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (1/4/16):

CBS (10.261 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1) was the top draw on Monday with the return of "Supergirl" (8.779 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.8, #3), "Scorpion" (11.537 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #2) and "NCIS: Los Angeles" (10.467 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #5).

ABC (6.423 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) then was a close second with the season premiere of "The Bachelor" (7.529 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1) and its post-show "The Bachelor Live" (4.213 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #9).

Next up was NBC (4.325 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3) with the formal premieres of "Superstore" (6.028 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.7, #4) and "Telenovela" (4.540 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.3, #6) alongside the return of "The Biggest Loser" (3.846 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T7).
