Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC Tops Demo Race with Comedies

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/11/17):

ABC (5.766 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) led the demo charge on Wednesday with its mix of "The Goldbergs" (6.897 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2), "Speechless" (5.902 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T3), "Modern Family" (7.574 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.3, #1), "Black-ish" (5.750 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T3) and "Match Game" (4.235 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T10).

FOX (5.359 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) then took home the silver with originals from "Lethal Weapon" (6.416 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T6) and "Star" (4.303 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T6).

Next up was NBC (5.914 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3) and its trio of "Blindspot" (5.091 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #12), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (6.100 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T6) and "Chicago PD" (6.552 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #5).

Meanwhile, CBS (6.646 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) offered up originals from "Undercover Boss" (6.106 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T10), "Criminal Minds" (7.531 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T6) and "Code Black" (6.302 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #13).

And finally, a repeat "Arrow" (0.806 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) and a new "Frequency" (0.753 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) closed out the evening for The CW (0.779 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/5; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.1/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.1/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

FOX (7.281 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1) won the tight demo race on Wednesday thanks to a new "American Idol" (9.744 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.5, #2) and the premiere of "Second Chance" (4.818 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T12).

ABC (6.105 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) then was a close second with originals from "The Middle" (7.432 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T7), "The Goldbergs" (6.336 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 2.0, #T3), "Modern Family" (8.173 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.6, #1), "Black-ish" (6.104 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T7) and "American Crime" (4.293 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.1, #14).
