Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Tops Charts with "Chicago" Event

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (3/1/17):

NBC (9.133 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) got a big boost on Wednesday with its crossover event between "Chicago Fire" (9.065 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T3), "Chicago PD" (9.602 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2) and "Chicago Justice" (8.734 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T3).

CBS (5.127 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T2) then was the number two draw with its mix of "Hunted" (4.842 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6), "Criminal Minds" (6.461 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6) and a repeat "Bull" (4.078 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T9).

Next up was ABC (3.444 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T2) with originals from "The Goldbergs" (6.117 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T3) and "Modern Family" (6.365 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) plus "When We Rise, Part 2" (2.045 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.348 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) offered up a repeat "Lethal Weapon" (3.330 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T9) and a new "Star" (3.367 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #8).

And finally, fresh installments of "Arrow" (1.603 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11) and "The 100" (1.025 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #13) on The CW (1.313 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #5) closed out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/4; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.3/5 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.0/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households and a 0.2/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (3/2/16):

CBS (8.335 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) was the demo champ on Wednesday with new episodes of "Survivor: Kaoh Rong" (9.185 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.2, #2), "Criminal Minds" (9.223 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T4) and a special "CSI: Cyber" (6.599 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T9).

ABC (5.685 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) then was a close second with its mix of "The Goldbergs" (7.039 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.0, #3), the premiere of "The Real O'Neals" (6.302 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.8, #6), "Modern Family" (8.181 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.6, #1), a second "The Real O'Neals" (6.088 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T4) and "American Crime" (3.248 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.8, #13).

Next up was NBC (7.110 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) with the season finale of "The Mysteries of Laura" (7.381 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T9) followed by new episodes of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (6.831 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.6, #7) and "Chicago PD" (7.117 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #8).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.470 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) offered up the return of "Rosewood" (3.566 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #12) and a new "Hell's Kitchen" (3.374 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.0, #11).
