Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX Tops Demos Against Heavy Repeat Competition

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (4/12/17):

FOX (5.099 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1) was the top adults 18-49 draw on Wednesday with new episodes from "Shots Fired" (3.603 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6) and "Empire" (6.596 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.3, #1).

CBS (6.352 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) then was the silver draw with new episodes of "Survivor: Game Changers" (8.214 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2), "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" (5.849 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6) and a second "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" (4.994 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10).

Next up was ABC (4.345 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) and repeats of "The Goldbergs" (4.138 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6), "Speechless" (3.620 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6), "Modern Family" (4.012 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4) and "Black-ish" (3.639 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4) followed by a new "Designated Survivor" (5.330 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3).

Meanwhile, NBC (4.084 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) opted for repeats of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (4.152 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10), another "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (4.148 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10) and "Chicago PD" (3.952 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10).

And finally, The CW (0.814 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) likewise went with second runs of "Arrow" (0.890 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14), "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (0.694 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) and another "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (0.785 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.5/3 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.3/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/4.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 0.9/3 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 0.8/3 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.2/1 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (4/13/16):

FOX (7.234 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.5, #1) was the demo champ on Wednesday with its original duo of "Rosewood" (4.421 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #10) and "Empire" (10.047 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.8, #1).

CBS (8.488 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) then claimed the silver with its mix of "Survivor: Kaoh Rong" (8.516 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.9, #3), "Criminal Minds" (8.900 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T5) and "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" (8.048 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #9).

Next up was ABC (5.758 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #3) and its quintet of "The Middle" (6.840 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T5), "The Goldbergs" (6.200 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.8, #4), "Modern Family" (7.410 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.2, #2), "Black-ish" (5.708 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.6, #8) and "Nashville" (4.196 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T11).

Meanwhile, NBC (5.205 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4) offered up a special "The Voice" (8.819 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T5) followed by the premiere of "STRONG" (3.723 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T11) and a second "STRONG" (3.072 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.9, #13).

And finally, repeats of "Arrow" (1.068 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T14) and "Supernatural" (0.931 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T14) on The CW (0.999 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the night.
