Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: "Big Brother" Returns on Top for CBS

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (6/28/17):

CBS (5.097 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1) surged to the top spot on Wednesday with the two-hour premiere of "Big Brother 19" (5.858 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) and a repeat "Criminal Minds" (3.574 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T4).

FOX (2.810 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #2) then was the silver draw with fresh installments of "MasterChef" (3.499 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2) and "The F Word with Gordon Ramsay" (2.121 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6).

Next up was NBC (3.852 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T3) with originals from "Little Big Shots: Forever Young" (6.511 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) and "The Carmichael Show" (3.512 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T4) followed by repeats of "The Carmichael Show" (2.787 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6) and "This Is Us" (1.897 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #13).

Meanwhile, ABC (2.669 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T3) served up repeats of "The Goldbergs" (2.628 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T10), "Speechless" (2.113 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T10), "Modern Family" (2.575 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6), "American Housewife" (2.333 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T10) and a new "To Tell the Truth" (3.184 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6).

And finally, second runs of "Arrow" (0.767 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) and "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" (0.748 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) rounded out the night on The CW (0.757 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.6/3; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.1/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.1/4 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/2 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (6/29/16):

CBS (4.584 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1) was the demo champ last night thanks to a new "Big Brother 18" (6.020 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) followed by a repeat "Criminal Minds" (4.218 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5) and week two of "American Gothic" (3.516 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T12).

NBC (4.863 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T2) then was the most-watched broadcaster with its mix of "U.S. Olympic Trials: Swimming" (5.675 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2), "The Night Shift" (4.586 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T7) and a second "The Night Shift" (4.328 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T7).

Next up was FOX (3.137 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T2) with originals from "MasterChef" (3.932 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T3) and "Wayward Pines" (2.343 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T7).
