Friday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Dramas Hold Onto Top Spot

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/12/18):

CBS (9.126 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #1) held onto the top spot on Friday with its mainstays "MacGyver" (8.091 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T2), "Hawaii Five-0" (9.264 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T2) and "Blue Bloods" (10.023 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T2).

FOX (2.902 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #2) then took home the silver with a new "Hell's Kitchen" (3.560 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #1) and a repeat "9-1-1" (2.245 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9).

Next up was NBC (3.525 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3) with the winter premieres of "Blindspot" (3.567 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T7), "Taken" (2.757 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #11) and "Dateline NBC" (4.252 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5).

Meanwhile, ABC (3.225 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3) offered up originals from "Child Support" (4.119 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5), "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (2.294 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9) and "20/20" (3.263 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T7).

And finally, a new "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" (0.696 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T12) and a repeat "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (0.959 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T12) rounded out the night on The CW (0.827 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.6/3; "Late Show," 0.5/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.2/4 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.4/4 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (1/13/17):

CBS (9.200 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T1) was the top draw on Friday with new episodes from "MacGyver" (7.715 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T4), "Hawaii Five-0" (9.544 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T4) and "Blue Bloods" (10.340 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T1).

ABC (5.893 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T1) however shared the demo crown with its mix of "Last Man Standing" (7.240 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T1), "Dr. Ken" (4.913 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #7), "Shark Tank" (5.794 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T1) and "20/20" (5.807 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T4).

Next up was NBC (3.682 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) and its trio of "Grimm" (4.302 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8), "Emerald City" (3.294 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8) and "Dateline NBC" (3.451 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T10).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.501 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) offered up fresh installments from "Rosewood" (2.855 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T10) and "Sleepy Hollow" (2.147 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #12).

And finally, the return of "The Vampire Diaries" (1.001 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #13) and a new "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" (0.567 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #14) closed out the night on The CW (0.784 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5).
