Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX Tops Demos, CBS Leads Total Viewers

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (3/14/18):

FOX (4.738 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1) held off the competition among adults 18-49 with originals from "The X-Files" (2.998 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.8, #11) and "9-1-1" (6.477 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2).

CBS (6.176 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2) then was a close second with its mix of "Survivor: Ghost Island" (8.225 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1), a repeat "NCIS" (4.652 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.6, #13) and a new "Criminal Minds" (5.650 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7).

Next up was NBC (6.003 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2) and its original trio of "The Blacklist" (5.448 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (6.008 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3) and "Chicago PD" (6.554 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4).

Meanwhile, ABC (3.716 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) offered up a new "Speechless" (4.066 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7), a second "Speechless" (3.697 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7), a repeat "Modern Family" (3.521 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5) and fresh installments from "American Housewife" (3.615 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5) and "Designated Survivor" (3.699 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #12).

And finally, The CW (0.903 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the evening with new episodes from "Riverdale" (1.183 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.4, #14) and "Life Sentence" (0.623 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #15).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/4; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.2/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.0/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/4 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (3/15/17):

ABC (5.414 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) edged out the competition among adults 18-49 with new episodes of "The Goldbergs" (5.481 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T4), "Speechless" (4.605 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T6), "Modern Family" (6.113 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1), "Black-ish" (4.899 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T4) and "Designated Survivor" (5.693 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T6).

NBC (6.661 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) then was a close second with a special "The Voice" (7.561 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3) recap and a repeat "Chicago PD" (4.862 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #11).

Next up was CBS (6.818 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T3) with new episodes of "Survivor: Game Changers" (7.764 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2), "Criminal Minds" (7.319 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T6) and "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" (5.373 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #12).

Meanwhile, FOX (4.955 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T3) offered up the season finales of "Lethal Weapon" (5.836 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T6) and "Star" (4.074 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T6).
