Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX, NBC Share Demo Honors

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/1/19):

FOX (2.554 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T1) and NBC (2.917 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T1) shared the demo crown on the opening night of 2019 as the former served up new episodes of "Lethal Weapon" (3.368 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T2) and "The Gifted" (1.740 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T4).

The Peacock then opted for repeats of "Ellen's Game of Games" (4.431 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #1), "This Is Us" (2.278 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T9) and "New Amsterdam" (2.040 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T12).

CBS (4.960 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T3) was the most-watched network with its second run lineup of "NCIS" (5.439 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T4), "FBI" (5.042 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T4) and "NCIS: New Orleans" (4.399 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T4).

Meanwhile, ABC (2.425 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T3) offered up repeats of "The Conners" (3.850 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T2), "The Kids Are Alright" (2.489 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T4), "Black-ish" (2.192 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T9), "Splitting Up Together" (1.859 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T9) and "The Rookie" (2.080 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T12).

And finally, rebroadcasts of "The Flash" (0.666 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (0.898 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) on The CW (0.782 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) rounded out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.3/2 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.3/1 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore telecast and a 0.2/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 0.9/3 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.2/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.1/1 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.4/2 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.1/1 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (1/2/18):

NBC (8.177 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) got a big demo boost on Tuesday with the formal premiere of "Ellen's Game of Games" (8.763 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.2, #2), a second "Ellen's Game of Games" (8.857 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.4, #1) and the return of "Chicago Med" (6.910 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3).

CBS (11.287 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) then was the silver draw with originals from "NCIS" (13.924 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3), "Bull" (10.988 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6) and "NCIS: New Orleans" (8.949 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #11).

Next up was ABC (3.838 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3) and its 2018 debuts of "The Middle" (6.284 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3), "Fresh Off the Boat" (4.221 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6) and "Black-ish" (4.025 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8) plus a repeat "Modern Family" (3.235 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.9, #12) and a new "Kevin (Probably) Saves the World" (2.632 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.7, #14).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.803 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3) served up the premiere of "LA to Vegas" (3.750 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8) bookended by new episodes from "Lethal Weapon" (4.588 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8) and "The Mick" (2.288 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.8, #13).
