Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX Originals Top Viewers, Demos

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (8/8/19):

FOX (4.455 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #1) was the network to beat on an NFL-fueled Thursday with fresh installments of "MasterChef" (4.876 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) and "Spin the Wheel" (4.033 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5).

NBC (4.451 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2) then was a close second with its all-repeat lineup of "The Wall" (4.900 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5), "Hollywood Game Night" (4.723 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T3) and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (3.730 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8).

Next up was CBS (4.320 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) with repeats of "The Big Bang Theory" (4.635 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8) and "Young Sheldon" (4.449 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8) alongside originals from "Big Brother 21" (5.053 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1) and "Elementary" (3.366 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #12).

Meanwhile, ABC (3.932 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) offered up its trio of "Holey Moley" (4.690 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T3), "Family Food Fight" (3.803 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #7) and "Reef Break" (3.302 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #11).

And finally, a new "The Outpost" (0.968 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #15) led into the premiere of "Two Sentence Horror Stories" (0.980 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T13) and a second "Two Sentence Horror Stories" (1.031 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T13) on The CW (0.987 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.4/3; "Late Show," 0.3/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline," averaged a 1.0/4 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.0/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 0.9/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.1/1.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.5/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (8/9/18):

CBS (6.417 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) emerged as the top draw on Thursday with its mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (7.290 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T3), "Young Sheldon" (7.073 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2), "Big Brother 20" (7.429 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) and "SWAT" (4.642 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5).

NBC (4.972 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2) then took home the silver with its lineup of "America's Got Talent: Road to Lives" (6.789 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T3), "Trial & Error" (4.947 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5), another "Trial & Error" (4.249 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8) and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (3.528 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11).

Next up was FOX (3.995 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2) with encores of "MasterChef" (3.793 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8) and another "MasterChef" (4.198 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5).

Meanwhile, ABC (4.120 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) offered up originals from "The Gong Show" (4.209 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11), "Match Game" (4.468 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8) and "Take Two" (3.683 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11).

And finally, second runs of "Supernatural" (1.121 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T14) and "Black Lightning" (1.034 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T14) rounded out the evening on The CW (1.077 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5).
