ABC NEWS' 'NIGHTLINE' RANKS NO. 1 IN TOTAL VIEWERS AND ADULTS 25-54, VS. CBS' 'AFTER MIDNIGHT' AND NBC'S 'LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS'

'Nightline' Shows Double-Digit Gains Week to Week in All Key Target Demos and Reports Largest Overall Audience in 3 Months

Season to Date, 'Nightline' Is Up in Total Viewers, Posting Its Largest Overall Audience in 3 Years

ABC News' "Nightline" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (868,000) and Adults 25-54 (188,000) for the week of May 20, 2024, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research, leading CBS' "After Midnight" and NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers."

"Nightline" turned in double-digit gains week to week in all key target demos: Total Viewers (+27% - 868,000 vs. 681,000), Adults 25-54 (+39% - 188,000 vs. 135,0000) and Adults 18-49 (+24% - 113,000 vs. 91,000). "Nightline" saw its largest overall audience in 3 months - since w/o 2/19/24.

"Nightline" saw Total Viewers gains on the same week last year (+18% - 868,000 vs. 737,000).

Season to date, "Nightline" is growing versus the comparable weeks last season in Total Viewers (+1% - 909,000 vs. 902,000), posting its largest overall audience in 3 years - since the 2020-2021 season.

This week, "Nightline" covered the search for answers after the death of a South Carolina pastor's wife; AANHPI cabinet members discussing their historic nominations; the latest on Sean "Diddy" Combs; the return of the American father arrested in Turks and Caicos after 102 days; a new biography about Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and her marriage to JFK Jr.; Elvis Presley's famed Graceland home may be facing foreclosure; severe turbulence on a Singapore Airlines flight; Whoopi Goldberg's new memoir; biohacking and the quest for longevity and wellness; Sean Paul's upcoming summer tour and more.

NOTE: On Friday (5/24/24), "Nightline" was retitled to "NL-ABC" due to the Memorial Day holiday, while CBS' "After Midnight" was retitled to "After Midnight-ENC." The retitled telecasts are excluded from the weekly and season averages. For the week, NBC's "Seth Meyers" was retitled to "Seth Meyers-SM" due to being repeats. ABC's and CBS' weekly average is based on four days (Monday-Thursday).
