Top 10 Week of July 7:
KPop Demon Hunters Spends Another Golden Week at No. 1 in This Week's Top 10
Plus: Madea's Destination Wedding makes a splashy No. 2 debut from the Bahamas.
The fictional pop superstar trio HUNTR/X spent another golden week in the Top 10 in all countries ranked, with KPop Demon Hunters reclaiming the No. 1 spot on the English Film List with another 24.2 million views. Slaying demons by night and the charts by day, these K-pop icons show how it's done - HUNTRX/S "Golden" now leads the Billboard charts at No. 1. Plus, the film's soundtrack logged 96.3 million on-demand streams in its third week, which Variety describes as "the biggest streaming week for a soundtrack in more [than] three years."
If anyone knows how to make an entrance, it's Madea. The Simmons family matriarch said "hellur" to No. 2 on the English Film List as Tyler Perry's Madea's Destination Wedding debuted with 19.1 million views. In the comedy, the sassy and no-nonsense matriarch heads to the Bahamas for an unexpected wedding. The film is writer, director, star, and producer Perry's 13th Madea film, arriving 20 years after the beloved character's first onscreen appearance.
Squid Game Season 3 remained the "Front Man" atop the non-English TV List after earning another 15.9 million views. The final season of the dystopian Korean thriller stunned global audiences for a third week, claiming a spot in the Top 10 in all countries ranked, and was joined once more by both prior seasons, with Season 1 at No. 7 (2.3 million views) and Season 2 at No. 5 (3.2 million views).
Whether they were looking for an action movie or a drama series, fans of fantasy logged plenty of viewing hours. Charlize Theron's The Old Guard 2 earned another 16 million views, putting it at No. 3 on the English Film List. The action flick maintained its hold on global audiences as a Top 10 hit in all countries, while its predecessor The Old Guard spent another week at No. 5 (4.9 million views). Meanwhile, the beach isn't the only place you'll find sand this summer - The Sandman's second season entered the Top 10 in 89 countries last week, while claiming the No. 1 spot in English TV with 5.9 million views. The King of Dreams made a second appearance on the list, with Season 1 ranking at No. 7 with 2.4 million views.
Speaking of action, the historic rivalry between professional boxers Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano turned up the heat on Friday in their third matchup, live from New York's Madison Square Garden. The highly anticipated all-women's boxing event Taylor vs. Serrano 3 entered the ring at No. 5 on the English TV list, with 2.8 million views. Nearly 6 million viewers tuned in during the main event, 4.2 million of those in the US, making this bout the most-watched professional women's sporting event in the US this year.
Anime is also having a major moment on Netflix, which became the go-to streaming service for fans of the Japanese genre with more than 50% of members using the platform to tune into their favorite series. In non-English TV, DAN DA DAN's recently released second season took the No. 4 spot on the list with 5.4 million views, while The Summer Hikaru Died landed at No. 8 with 2 million views. Thanks to a growing and wide-ranging slate of anime series, viewership of the genre on Netflix has tripled in just five years.
Finally, audiences looking for a good thrill certainly found one last week. The German mystery thriller Brick topped the Non-English Film List and debuted in the Top 10 in all countries after amassing 18.2 million views. And horror fans couldn't escape the "undead" too easily: The zombie movie Ziam (Thailand) debuted at No. 3 in non-English film with 9.2 million views.
