DESCRIPTION:
(from Netflix's press release, February 2025) Produced by Gullane, Radioactive Emergency is inspired by a real-life Cesium-137 accident. The series begins when a radiotherapy device is opened at a scrapyard, releasing radioactive material that spreads through Goiânia. A race against time follows, as the authorities and specialists work to track the contamination and save lives, including those of an entire family affected by the tragedy. The drama shines a light on the anonymous heroes whose efforts mobilized the country and brought renewed attention to the work of Brazilian scientists and medical teams.
